Pre-season tesing is now finished. The next time an EJ11 hits the track it will be in Free Practice for the Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne.
In anticipation for this, the Jordan Grand Prix team has now packed its bags and is ready to fly half way around the world for the first race of the season.
The majority of the team equipment (totalling 81 pieces) was packed up on Wednesday night following the last pre-season test. This includes 3 complete cars and 71 cases of equipment and spares, with a combined weight of about 22,000 kilos. Flown out from Stansted airport on Thursday, the equipment is scheduled to arrive at the Melbourne circuit on Monday 26th February.
Once it arrives, there's a huge amount of work to be done by the team. There is still 1 car left to be packed, along with 3 more cases of equipment, all of which is scheduled to fly out on Friday 23 February and arrive with the bulk of the kit at the Melbourne circuit on Monday.
In addition to this, numerous extra boxes of spares and equipment will be flown out with the team personnel in their hand luggage or in flight cases.
The first group of ten team members fly out to Melbourne on Friday night. Following that, the main group including the mechanics leave on Saturday, with the engineers departing on Sunday. From Monday through to Wednesday, members of Jordan management will be flying out to join the rest of the team in order to prepare for Free Practice on Friday 2nd March.
