23rd August - Fisichella is happy to be back.

Giancarlo Fisichella will return to Jordan next season having signed a new three year contract, and has admitted he is looking forward to meeting up with some familiar faces.

Following Jordan’s announcement yesterday, the 28 year old Italian commented, “I am very happy indeed to be coming back to the team where I enjoyed so much success and happy times in 1997. I look forward very much to joining my old friends there and to working with Eddie Jordan and his team towards future success.”

Fisichella came to Jordan in 1997 as a relative rookie, having completed just 6 races for Minardi in 1996.
In one season he secured two podium finishes (3rd in Canada and 2nd in Belgium), three 4th place finishes and one fastest lap (Spain). He out performed his then teammate, Ralf Schumacher, 20 points to 13.
