13th April - A routine Friday Free Practice for Jordan.

Friday's Free Practice turned out to be a trouble-free, routine day for Benson & Hedges Jordan Honda with Jarno Trulli setting ninth fastest time and Heinz-Harald Frentzen 13th quickest.

"A good day; trouble-free," said Trulli. "We worked all day with the race in mind; fuel, tyres and so on. Everything was working well but we don't know how quick we are compared to the other teams because we don't know the fuel loads they were running. I'm happy with the balance of the car even if the track conditions changed. We had a wet-set up initially but when the track dried very quickly, I couldn't change the set-up as much as I wanted, which meant I was struggling a little bit. But we already know which direction we have to take tomorrow."

The first of the two 60-minute sessions was run on a wet track. By the start of the second session, the racing line had started to dry, the fastest time of the day being three-tenths of a second away from last year's pole position.

"One more unspectacular day in the history of Friday practices," said Frentzen. I have been concentrating on our list of tasks. Everything worked out fine, no big troubles. By and large, I am quite content. There was just one thing that was a bit unusual: due to the initial heavy rain which eventually stopped we had the chance to test all three types of rubber: rain tyres, intermediates and tyres for dry weather. But, otherwise, it was routine and I'm happy with progress so far."
