Jordan Honda commenced the first day of its another three-day test session, this time at at Valencia, with both Giancarlo Fisichella and Takuma Sato in attendance.
Hybrid EJ11s, the 2001 car with several parts for 2002, will again be used to allow the Jordan pair to gain decent track time before the EJ12s hit the track for the first time. Currently the 2002 challanger is expected to be seen for the first time in the last week of January.
Overnight moisture made the track damp in the morning and the team used intermediate tyres for the first few hours of running, however dry weather for the remainder of the day allowed Giancarlo and Takuma to complete 82 and 84 laps respectively. Fisichella worked on launch control development and general chassis set-up, achieving the fifth fastest time of the day with 1:14.58, while Sato familiarised himself with the Valencia circuit and continued with general chassis set-up work. His 1:15.81 lap time placed him seventh in the time sheet.
The team described the start of this test as 'productive', and both Jordan Honda drivers will drive for the next two days.
