On Saturday 5th January three trucks and two hybrid EJ11s left the team’s Silverstone headquarters, and by the time the cars start running on Wednesday morning, 36 Jordan team personnel will have arrived at the Spanish circuit to resume testing after the enforced winter break.
Italian Giancarlo Fisichella, who returns to Jordan following a four year spell at Benetton, and Japanese Takuma Sato, the newly crowned and record-breaking British F3 Champion, are both keen to renew their acquaintance with a Jordan Formula One car - Takuma took part in a test session with the Irish team at Jerez in December 2000, and Giancarlo raced brilliantly for the team in 1997 scoring 20 points.
Both drivers will spend 3 days getting familiar with the EJ11, which will be running some development parts for the EJ12.
The trucks, cars and about 20 members of the team will remain in Spain to make the three hour drive from Barcelona to Valencia, to prepare for Jordan’s second 2002 test session which takes place 15 – 17 January.
