The EJ12 is fastest.

Jordan completed its first test of its 2002 challenger yesterday with Giancarlo Fisichella and Takuma Sato driving for three days at Silvesrtone.

Fisichella completed 24 laps in the EJ12, and in damp track conditions posted a best time of 1m26.39, fractionally quicker than Sato’s 1m26.57 in the EJ11.

Fisichella tested various cooling combinations and carried out some set-up work, which improved performance. A gearbox problem with his car was discovered after a single installation lap, however it was solved and he was able to continue running for the remainder of the session.

Sato completed 49 laps and spent time concentrating on wet and dry set-up work, practice pit-stops, engine mapping for Honda, and launch and traction control. The EJ11 underwent a routine gearbox change which did not interfere with Sato’s schedule for the day.
