Takuma Sato today commenced an important three day test for DHL Jordan Honda in warm and sunny conditions at Silverstone as the team work to improve speed and reliability of the Ej12 before the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix.
The Japanese driver completed 47 laps and recorded the fifth quickest lap time of the day, working on engine mapping, front suspension geometry, brake systems and general set-up work. A minor engine problem halted the team’s programme early.
Upon completion of the day's work Sato commented “It was good weather today which is unusual for Silverstone. Overall it was good work but a few small problems cost us some time during the session. We did system checks on the new Honda engine and tried a new front suspension configuration, which works well. There are lots of things to do and this is a start. Today was a good base for the rest of the test.”
Tomorrow Giancarlo Fisichella will join his team-mate for the remaining two days of the test.
