AIRBORNE SPRING FLING
The Zia Chapter LVI in Albuquerque
along with the members of the Chile Chapter LXXX, Las Cruces, have been
invited to the Joint Airborne Picnic at Elephant Butte State Park on
Saturday, 29 April,2000
We begin to gather and the "war" stories start about 0830
hours and last until??? The get-together between the New Mexico Airborne
(Lobo chapter) and the El Paso (Benavidez chapter) was such a great
success last year we decided to make it an annual event.
The Picnic site is located overlooking the water and has a large (approx.20'x20') covered eating area to avoid the sun. There will be plenty of good food and drink and the "word on the street" is there are several members who consider themselves to be the Champion horseshoe players and that sounds like a challenge to me!
Kids or adults
will be able to play in the water or hike. Camping spots are available for
those who wish to stay Friday or Saturday nights.
A sketch map with directions from Albuquerque or the Southern part
of the state Call Roger Knight (505)822-0131 when you reach the entrance
to the State Park, you need only to ask where the Airborne Picnic is being
held. The Park Rangers will provide you simple directions to the picnic
site.
The El Paso Chapter is furnishing all the "liquid" refreshments
to include cups, glasses, etc. as well as any appetizers and desserts and
most important (besides the beer)...Texas hot links.
The Lobo Chapter is furnishing the hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments
(to include plenty of green chile for your hamburger) salads and beans.
Oops, I almost forgot the most important the Lobo Chapter furnishes...:the
chef extra-ordinaire, Julian Fresquez, all fired up with his huge grill,
his charcoal coals perfectly red and glowing and just waiting to make this
picnic a success. If any individuals want to bring a dish, that is o.k.,
but it is not necessary. Your Pres will be there. Wonder what his culinary
skills include????
Plan to join the Airborne Chapters for a day of fun, good food and lots of
"Tall Tales".
