ABOUT BUDDHISMDhammo Parinneyyo
Dhammo sevitabbo
Dhammo desitabboKnow the Dhamma thoroughly
Practise it Fully
Share it generously with othersWelcome to one of the first and largest Buddhist websites on the Net. Online since 1991, DharmaNet is now at an important crossroads.
While DharmaNet has been one of the most well-known and well-utilized of the online Buddhist resources, support from its users has remained for the most part non-existent. It has been personally funded by myself for over a decade, wth occasional donations from individuals. I have asked repeatedly for resource help to overhaul DharmaNet into a much-needed database format and have gotten no where. It has become more than I am able to do by myself.
I am making one last plea for help. This may be in the way of making this site more self-updating, so that it requires less of my time and so it can become the timely resource it once was - or it may be in the way of finding a successor, someone willing to take over this resource, while remaining true to its vision to represent ALL Buddhist groups, and offered in the spirit of dana. If help is not forthcoming, I will be forced to sadly shut down DharmaNet at the end of the year.
If you value the continued presence of DharmaNet and would like to see it become more timely and easier to use, then please consider making a donation - or a regular pledge of support. Generosity is what has kept the Dharma alive all these centuries. Your generosity can help to keep DharmaNet alive.

How to be Reborn in Sukhavati
There are three conditions for rebirth in the Pure Land.
1. Have faith that there is a Western Paradise of Eternal Bliss;
2. Make a vow that you want to be reborn there;
3. Cultivate the practice that accomplishes your vow.
There are many examples of vows and descriptions of how to practice in the books contained and listed here on this website.

Mahayana Buddhism is one of the two major branch of Buddhism, Mahayana and Hinayana. Mahayana Buddhism mean "The Great Vehicle"(across the sea of suffering). Mahayana Buddhism appeared in India about four hundred years after the Buddha's passing. Mahayana points out a new way to emancipation and thus makes the supreme goal of Buddhism more accessible to all human types. Being called "The Great Vehicle", Mahayana practitioner are said to practice helpful compassion in helping those around them attaining enlightenment as well as themselves.

Dhamma is the greatest treasure. If one were to search and find it and make good use of it, that person would be rich for the rest of his life, rich in mindfulness and wisdom, and very happy, peaceful, kind and virtuous. Whatever that person does is done with strength, mindfulness, compassion and wisdom, because his mind is calm and peaceful and their thinking is bright and clear.
