Patricia Ann⁶ Darling (Wilmer Lester⁵, Robert Lilley⁴, Wilmer Starkey³, Ezra², David¹) In 1941, she went to live with her aunt and uncle, Leona and Lou Powers, who lived about 50 miles from her parents farm. Her aunt was a school teacher and her uncle a dentist. During World War II, she helped her aunt Leona with airplane spotting duties. She majored in elementary education. She works as a field editor for Taste of Home magazine, writes for Pennsylvania Magazine and enjoys sewing, crafts, photography, genealogy, and Scherenschnitte (German paper cutting craft).

A request for stories from Reminisce magazine about the event that changed peoples live forever prompted her to write a story about her family loaning her to her aunt and uncle. The story This Loan Decision Changed A Life Forever was published in the book Forks in the Road and reprinted in The Wayne Independent (Honesdale, PA) 20 October 1998.
