Help Secure a Place of Honor for the

Confederate Veterans Monument - Jeffersonville, GA

The Confederate Monument to Twiggs County Confederate Veterans (and all Confederate Veterans) is currently located in an inappropriate location next to a fried chicken eatery.  We support the efforts of the many Twiggs County residents to have this monument relocated to a place of honor on public property, preferably the new County lawn in Jeffersonville (across the railroad tracks from its current location).

Mr. Russ Huffman and Mr. Tommy Fountain (both Twiggs residents) are seeking signatures from Twiggs voters on a petition to the Twiggs County Commissioners. Huffman is also raising money from private donors to pay for the relocation and refurbishing expenses.  Huffman has secured the services of Mr. Allen Veal, a monument specialist, to relocate and repair the monument.

The Twiggs County Commissioners will be presented with petitions at their regular meeting Tuesday, August 5th, at 7:00pm in Jeffersonville.  If you support this worthy effort, please attend the August 5th meeting.  If you want to financially support the relocation expenses or offer other assistance, please contact Russ Huffman at 478-945-3031.

Customers of the fried chicken eatery frequently use the pedestal as a picnic table and leave their trash and food scraps on the monument.
