Time of the Millennium
The electronic trumpet simulators blasted as the new Millennium 3000 Time Gate was opened to the Public. This amazing contraption allowed the population to travel to the past and observe events under the shielding of an invisible pod that stopped it from being seen, herd or felt.
The Professor of the union of profound arts and sciences prepared his speech, which would be transmitted into the Ceribo Cortex or thousands of spectators.
"Ladies, Gentlemen and other assorted sexes, I welcome you to the opening of this profoundly fantastic time travel method which allows you to observe key events in our History. This project has been dedicated to the 20th Century visionaries, John Smith and William Dolman, the discoverers of fuel X, phosphorus caesium. The Gate costs only 10,000 electrodes for travel to the destination of your choice.'
As I sat there guarding the Gate through my computer link, I did not realise how much it would affect my life. At that moment I received at transmission from head quarters stating that there was a possible break in at sub unit 2675 telling me to investigate. As my brain zoomed through the wires of the gate I once again considered my identity. Sam Brown direct descendant of Sam Brown the most malevolent and destructive villain in earth history and Enemy of those the gate was dedicated too. Upon reaching sub unit 2675 I discovered the problem. A hacker was bypassing the security by passes and attempting to access the gate without a pod! Not only that but the code he was entering was programming the gate so he could go through and then it would shut for 12.56 warfs.
Without knowing what I was doing and no time to communicate my body was also transported through the interlocking numerlatory time vortex and on either side of me spanned thousands of time periods over the last millennium.
Suddenly I was ejected out of the vortex and came crashing down on to the roof of a large dome. I immediately recognised the famous building. It was the Historic Millennium Dome, built exactly 1000 years before the Millennium gate!
I investigated my inter-time transmitter, but it was damaged, so I set it to auto repair. I turned on my scanner and picked up the signal from my opponent's booster boots. He was making his way through the dome.
I quickly vaporised a window and jumped through on to the head of the body section, a large recreation of a human body. With the help of my booster boots I slid down towards the mouth trying to look as inconspicuous as possible. Loosing my control I fell into the mouth and made a hasty exit down the gullet the amazement of the onlookers. After a while I found myself falling out of the hole at the opposite side. I had fallen down headfirst so I whacked my head on the floor as I plummeted out of the anus.
I stood up and was immediately accosted by a security guard.
"Who are you and where's your ticket?" Asked the guard. "I am Tom Brown and my brother has got my ticket over there." As the Guard looked round I engaged my booster boots and blasted off. The guard turned around in time to see me disappearing round a souvenir shop. He was shocked, but still sounded the alarm.
From my vantage point on one of the beams holding the roof up, I could see the entire Dome. I whipped out my scanner and picked up my enemy leaving. I swooped down trying to keep out of sight, but I was seen by a guard and five men started firing at me. I increased my speed and escaped, but the police were on to me, and were searching everyone nearby. I quickly thought of a plan. I flew into a low cloud and set my communicator to instruct any booster boots nearby which were switched off, to start up.
The plan worked and I saw a man rise fast from the crowd, a man who I recognised as Mandrake Colman, the killer of my father, my brother, my two cousins and my grandfather. He stopped his boots and soon traced the source of the code. In moments I dimly saw his figure in front of me in the cloud.
He fired and I jumped to the side reaching for my Blaster. The blow hit my left boot, rendering it useless. I disengaged both boots, causing me to fall and his second shot to miss. I fired up at him and he parried my shot with the only thing possible, his gun, which was immediately vaporised. He quickly flew up and disappeared. I set the damaged boot to repair and engaged my remaining boot. I flew unsteadily up wards, but was hit in the stomach by the rogue, who had hidden nearby. I swung my gun underneath me and hit him in the nuts. I appeared to have hit something else as well, as there was a flash, and my Blaster was overloaded by the bust of electricity. The shock also destroyed the circuits in our remaining equipment, which were automatically set to repair.
Due to lack of working booster boots I grabbed the device as we were fell, although my theory as to what the device was could not be confirmed until my scanner came on line. I diverted my attention to my boots, which were BB 399's, the most advanced model. I set them to turn on as soon as they worked, and the ground loomed closer. My hand computer was working due to the particular manufacturers, who made it to always keep going, despite doing little else, and it worked out that the boots would come on in time for me to save both of us. I was so releived that I almost started to enjoy myself. As we neared the last cloud I spotted a problem. I hang glider was coming straight at me!
I could not dodge, or in any way avoid it and it smashed into me, destroying both of my boots and his hang glider. We fell straight down and the ground loomed closer, and closer, and closer. As we came within a meter, I felt a hand on my ankle and looked up into the face of Mandrake Colman!
His booster boots were working again and in his other hand he held the Hang glider pilot, who by this time had fainted from the exitement. An armed policeman ran over, and he through the pilot into him, knocking him out. Colman picked up the man's gun and roughly through me on the floor.
'Before I kill you, would you like to know why I am here?' He asked.
'Yes,' said I
'Well that's a shame because you will never know' said he and he pulled the trigger.
'Try cocking it' I said
'Eh' he grunted, but I kicked the gun into the air, rolled over and caught it.
'So why?' I asked.
'I intend to stop the discovery of fuel X'
'Why?'
'To stop the collapse of the buisness empire of GOC.' I immediately recognised the initials.
'The Gas Oil and Coal company which covertly controlled all central fossil fuel companies.'
'One of my ancestors was a large share holder in it, and my family spent the next 800 years as tramps and beggers at the bottom of society, due to its fall.' He growled.
'I'm taking you back' I said
'Why?' he asked, 'you could make a fortune, 'inventing' the technology you brought from the future, I'll even give you my booster boots.'
'No' said I
'Why not' said he
You killed many of my family (including my father'
'No, Sam, I am your father' he solemnly replied.
'No, it's not true'
'Think about it, if you don't believe me, here' he turned of a holo generator on his belt, and I remembered that the device I hit with my blaster was a DNA masker
'You are right, you are my father,' I was forced to agree,)
'So What?, join me, it is your destiny'
'Never,' I replied 'I'm taking you in' and I activated my transmitter, now repaired, sending a request to the future for a pod, and I set up a force field around my father, preparing to take him in. set up a force field around the convict and took out the device of his that I had hit with my blaster and confirmed it with my repaired scanner to be a inter-time transmitter, now working fine apart from a power pack, which I removed from my scanner. I easily sent for a pod and went with Mandrake Colman, back to the future.
