IINS VITTORIO VENETO
A WWII Italian Battleship, the IINS Vittorio Veneto, or the V.V. as she is also known is a R/C combat model, part of the Saint John Axis fleet.  The Italian Battleship V.V. was constructed from one of Ralph Coles Hulls, with superstructure made by Carl Camurati and using internal equipment purchased from Battlers Connection.

CANNATS IV (Sept. 2001) was a blast!  Veneto ran well, but did little damage due to faulty pnuematics parts bought locally.  These were replaced in 2002 with authentic "Clippard"brand valves and fittings.  She sank during the first 10 minutes of her first battle due to a lose wire connector on the pump battery, but proved to be a very reliable running ship thereafter.

Veneto claims her first sink!
It occured at the Sam Slick Days held in Windsor, Nova Scotia in August 2002.  The Vittorio Veneto using her 50 round "A" turret ripped into the side of Kaptain Steve Crane's DKM Lutzow (Kaptained at the event by Tom McLeod) and in such rough weather the 25+ holes made in that one pass caused flooding instantly.  She cruised close to shore slowly getting lower and lower until her stern slipped under and down she went next to a concrete wall with about 200-300 people watching.  It must be said that it is regretable that her first kill was a AXIS ship!

Veneto competed at CANNATS V (Sept. 2002) and did quite well, assisting in a number of sinks, including the then new HMS Nelson.
