D.K.M. Scharnhorst the first attempt |
The hull plug is currently in the hands of Ralph Coles, he will be making a fiberglass mould and hulls from it. I have already made moulds for the turrets in fiberglass, but after a change of heart, they can be be more detailed if moulded in a different material. |
The failed construction of D.K.M. Scharnhorst and the crummy plans that led to it's mothballing in my attic. This ship may see completion as a folk like thing, but it's too innaccurate for me to detail or put in a high priority standing for completion. |
A great little tug with a "Dustbuster" motor from a hand held vacuum cleaner. |
This was my first kit and a month after I bought the Sterling Models kit it was discontinued. The model is not fully completed yet, but is now running and saw it's first test cruise in the summer of 2002. Better motor couplings need to be installed. |
This is from the Billings Boats kit and will have working bow thruster, anchor, lights, fully detailed cabin, three motors, turret rotate and gun elevation/depression, etc. It is currently awaiting new motor couplings and finishing. The speed is extreme and I may have to replace the motors with slower ones. |
Built from a Linberg plastic model kit named the North Atlantic Fishing Trawler. This was the smallest R/C model in the Saint John club for a while, however Andrew Justason has built a smaller model of a Coast Guard lifeboat. It has even survived a sinking! |
Given to me by the late Gordie Bass, this is one beautiful running model with a 24V photocopier motor running on 12v it is the quietest in the club and may well be the oldest. More beautiful pictures of her running comming soon. Thanks Gordie she's one of my favourites! |
Although this picture is of Mike Powell's "Bully" model mine is almost the exactly the same except MINE IS MASSIVE ! It will be powered by a small car battery and 2-4 motors and shafts each driving a 2"-3" propeller and 2-4 rudders. I started this 4' long by 20" wide bohemeth when I was just 10 years old. |
In the framing stage awaiting a decision on how to sheet and mould her hull. |
Nice little boat with a working fire monitor that i got for $35.00 Canadian a few years ago. Works well and I like to squirt those too close to shore ! |
This was my first R/C boat and it survives to this day. It turns by shutting off one motor since it has no rudder. It has seen over 3' swells from boat wakes at salt water beaches! I will always keep her going. So far the only part replaced was the battery holder, because of some corrosion! It's seen more than 10 years of use and abuse ! Even a frog got on board for a ride once! |
This was based on a semi-scale plan from England that was close looking to this Canadian WWI class built in Saint John and Scrapped not long after commissioning. I may be moulding it this summer, however since I do not like fiberglass I may just finish is as a one off model. |

Norderney North Sea Reasearch Vessel |
Almost all plastic construction, from a kit by Robbe in Germany. This ship has been started and may see the water this year if money allows. |
Coastal Steamer - For Sale |
Purchased from Andrew Justason. Built by a fellow in St. Andrews. Fun to run and reliable, but as with the sardine carrier is not perfect detail wise as it is somewhat semi-scale. |
Betty II Lobster Boat |
Built by my late friend Victor Ross. This model is from a Midwest Boothbay Lobster Boat Kit. Features working lights and long running. One of my favorites. |
Sardine Carrier - For Sale |
Purchased from Andrew Justason. Built by a fellow in St. Andrews. Currently awaiting a new radio when money allows. |
DKM Bismarck |
Purchased from Curt Stokes in Darthmouth Nova Scotia. This R/C combat model was built from a Swampworks kit in 1993 and will celebrate it's 10 anniversary March 2003. It has been the flagship of NABS since the beginning of NABS and has seen every major battle and only sunk 3 or 4 times. Check out my NABS photo site for more on her. |
DBM Vittorio Veneto |
Built for R/C warship combat, she was my first model to be completed so quickly. She took only 2 months to the day to hit the water and saw her first battle and mine as well the following week in Sept. 2001 at CANNATS 4. She sank in the first 10min of action due to a lose connection on the pump batery, but has not been sunk since! I've also added more detail and upgraded some things on her since then. |
IJN Musashi |
Purchased this complete kit and all accessories from Battlers Connection. Excellent quality! I have just started construction on this ship and should have her battle ready in the spring 2003. This is probably the largest project I to date. |
