The classic picture of the lighthouse from the beach.

Here's a not so classic shot looking up from the base of the light.

Here's the operating position, notice the lighthouse in the background.  This was a lovely spot, shaded from the sun and cooled with the steady breeze coming from the water which is only about 75 feet away.  The bathrooms and water fountain were about the same distance in the opposite direction.  The only problem with this location is the parking.  Closest parking is about 1/4 mile away at the fishing pier and costs $2 per hour.

I spent a 5 days at Periwinkle Campground on Sanibel Island and only got rained on 1 time!  It's the only campground on the island and about 10 minutes by car from the lighthouse.  You may find out more about the campground at www.sanibelcamping.com
