Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon or any characters therein. The evil, powers that be at Toei/Bandai own them. But if I did, you know things would be way different. There would be none of that stupid-ass Sorato shite. *gag* and most likely Takenouchi would have been squashed under all that falling rock. (Sorry Sora fans).
Second in the 'You and No Other' series. Enjoy!
"Matt!"
"What? I'm busy!"
"Phone's for you!"
"Take a message will you?"
"Just pick up the phone!"
Matt Ishida sighed dramatically, pulled open the door to the bathroom and stalked down the hallway to get the phone. He didn't have time for this. He had to finish getting ready for his date tonight with Tai. Finally after all the waiting and dreaming and praying, he was with the one he loved. This was one of the most important days in his young life. Everything had to be perfect.
He picked up the receiver, "Hello?"
"Hey Matt! What took you so long? Did you get lost?"
"Hi Kiro. What do you want?"
"Someone's touchy today, aren't we?"
Matt really didn't have time for this. "I'm sorry, I'm a little busy. Can you please tell me why you called?"
"Did Namke call you?"
"No, why?"
"Practice tomorrow is cancelled. He's got the flu or something, I don't know."
"Uh look thanks for calling, but I've really got to go. I'll talk to you later, okay?"
"Sure Matt, sure. What you got a date with some hot chicka tonight or something?" Laughed Kiro.
'Not exactly a chicka,' thought Matt to himself. "Hot is not the word."
"Whoo hoo! You dog! Do I know her?"
"Like I would tell you, big mouth."
"Matt! I am hurt. I thought we were friends."
"We are," stated Matt matter-of-factly. "I just don't see the need to keep you updated on my sex life."
"Sex life? So you fucked her already? No wonder you are going out with her, if she is that easy!"
"Fuck you, Kiro!" Matt spat out at the receiver. "As usual you don't know what you're talking about!"
"Matt! Language!" called his father from the living room.
"Okay, okay! So you didn't. Who pissed in your cornflakes this morning?"
"Why do you have to talk like that? You don't even know hi- uh her," Matt caught himself at the last second. He hoped his band mate didn't notice. "She is very special and I don't appreciate you talking about her like that. So, shut up."
"Geeze sorry, man. I didn't know you felt that way."
Matt could just see Kiro standing with his hands out in front of him, in an 'I give up' gesture. "Yeah well, you don't have to be so crude. Anyway, I really have to go."
"All right. See ya later."
"Yeah, whatever," mumbled Matt as he hung up the phone. 'What a prick!
How dare he talk about Tai like that!' he thought to himself. 'Whoa, hang on
there Ishida. Kiro doesn't know that you're dating Tai.'
"Well he shouldn't be saying that about anybody," he muttered out
loud on his way back to the bathroom.
"What was that, Matt?" asked his father.
"Huh? Oh nothing, dad. Just talking to myself."
"There's medication for that, son."
"Okay thanks, dad," said Matt distractedly.
On his way to the bathroom Matt stuck his head in his bedroom door, to check the time. The alarm clock beside his bed read 7:30pm. He was supposed to pick up Tai at 8:00. He hurriedly made his way into the small bathroom to finish fixing his hair.
As he reached for the bottle of hair gel, he noticed that it was empty.
"Shit! I forgot to pick some up. I wonder if I have time?" He looked at himself in the mirror. "I have to get some. I can't go out looking like this."
Matt wasn't vain, but he liked to look presentable. Tonight was not the night to stray from that habit.
He ran into the living room, "Dad! I need the keys to the van, quick!"
"On your way to pick up Tai?"
"No, I have to run to the store. If I don't go now, I'll be late."
"Uh, Matt? Why don't you go later then?" Mr. Ishida looked up at his son with a puzzled expression.
"Dad, please!" he was so anxious, he was bouncing on the balls of his feet.
"All right all, right. Here," he tossed Matt a set of keys.
"Be back in a flash!" called Matt on his way out the door...
20 minutes later a blond blur came streaking through the apartment.
"God damn it, I'm going to be late."
Finally standing back in front of the mirror, Matt flipped the top of the gel and squeezed a liberal amount into the palm of his hand. Muttered curses could be heard from the room as he proceeded to sculpt his blond locks into the picture of controlled chaos that it should be.
A short time later Matt emerged from the small room. He was ready to go.
"Okay dad, I'm leaving."
"Have a good time," said Mr. Ishida, waving. "Don't be too late Matt."
"Sure, dad."
And with that he left his apartment and headed down to the parking lot. He couldn't believe how nervous he was. He could not screw this up. This was too important.
Reaching the minivan Matt got in and started the engine. As he pulled into the light evening traffic he noticed a sort of whining noise. That couldn't he good.
*~*~*~*~
Tai Kamiya paced around his bedroom for the fifth time that night. 'Oh God, he is not going to come. He realized that he made a mistake.' He was sure that he was about to cry when he heard the doorbell ring.
"Tai, your date is here!" his mother shouted from the other room.
Tai ran into the bathroom to splash on some cologne and make one last check of his appearance.
"Tai Kamiya! You're guest is waiting, get out her now!"
"All right mom, I'm coming!" he yelled back, and then took a deep breath.
Tai walked into the main room of the apartment to see Matt standing in the hallway talking to both his parents and Kari, looking very uncomfortable.
"So what are your intentions toward my son?" asked Mrs. Ishida.
"Mom! Leave him alone. You guys can stop the third degree. We are leaving now. Hi Matt," he smiled shyly.
"Hi yourself. You all set?"
Tai nodded in the affirmative. "I just have to grab my coat."
Matt gestured for Tai to lead on. He was about to follow when Mr. Kamiya grabbed his arm. "You know that Tai just got out of an abusive relationship?"
"Yes, sir," Matt knew only to well about what had happened concerning Tai's previous boyfriend Toshi.
"I want you to realize that Tai likes you a lot, but he is very vulnerable right now. I fear that his ideas of how a relationship should work are misconstrued. I believe that right now, he would do just about anything you asked of him..."
The light dawned in Matt's eyes. "Mr. Kamiya," he interrupted. "I would never, I mean, I love Tai. I would never take advantage of him. I promise."
"Good to hear that, son." Mr. Kamiya leaned in close to Matt and whispered conspiratorially, "Because if you hurt my boy, you will have me to deal with. Do I make myself clear?"
"Y-yes sir. C-crystal clear." Matt stammered.
"Good. You two have a good time tonight," Mr. Kamiya said loud enough for Tai to hear.
"Thanks dad, we will."
The two young men left the apartment and headed for the elevator.
"What was all that about?" asked Tai.
"Your father wanted to make sure that I treat you right."
The elevator arrived and Tai gave him a side-glance as they both entered the car.
"He loves you Tai. He is just worried about you. Especially after what happened with well, you know."
"Him," Tai whispered.
'Oh way to go Ishida, let's start the evening off by upsetting your boyfriend,' he thought to himself. "Anyways," Matt continued cautiously. " I think the gist of the message was if I break your heart, he is going to break my knee caps."
Tai couldn't help but laugh at that. "I don't think you will have to worry about my father."
"That's right, because I don't believe I have plans to break any hearts in the near future. Especially yours."
Tai smiled and Matt took hold of his hand. He was surprised that Tai's hand was just that much smaller and it fit into his perfectly. It just felt right. He tightened his grip a little. The two young men just stood in silence as the elevator carried them to the parking garage.
When the bell rang and the doors opened, Matt and Tai stepped into the darkened lot.
"Matt?" asked Tai.
"M'hmm?"
"So, where are we going tonight?"
"Well dearest, I thought that I would start by taking my beautiful boyfriend to Bruyer's for a romantic dinner. Then dancing maybe? Then...who knows?"
"Matt! That place is so expensive!" Tai exclaimed.
Matt just shook his head. "It doesn't matter. I am going to make sure that tonight is perfect, even if it kills me."
"We wouldn't want that, now would we?" Tai smiled.
By this point, Matt and Tai reached the van. Matt opened the passenger side door, and Tai climbed in. He looked up when Matt didn't close the door.
"What?"
"Have I told you tonight how beautiful you are?" Matt said softly.
Tai blushed, a pale pink lightly dusting his cheeks. "Thanks. You look really good tonight too. I can't believe that someone like you, wants to go out with someone like me."
Matt knelt down in front of the still open door. "Tai, don't say things like that. I have been in love with you for a long time now. You know why?"
Tai just looked at the ground and shook his head.
"Because you are smart and funny and energetic and fun to be with and..." Matt gently tilted Tai's chin up until they were eye-to-eye, "so beautiful. You see Angel, when we were best friends; I got to see I side of you that not many people get to see. I learned how truly special you are. And eventually I learned that I love you."
"Oh Matt," Tai cried and flung himself into the blonde's arms almost toppling them both to the ground.
"Whoa, Tai. Tai. What is it?" Matt untangled his new boyfriend from around his body and held him out at arms length. Tears were running down his cheeks and his breaths came in short hitching sobs.
He enfolded Tai back in his arms and gently rocked him until he was calm enough to speak. "Shh, it's all right. Tell me what's wrong." Matt couldn't believe this. He had somehow already made Tai cry, and they hadn't even left the parking lot yet!
"Did you really mean what you said?" Tai asked in a small voice, wiping the tears from his eyes.
"Of course."
"Nobody has ever said anything so beautiful to me before. I-I love you too."
Matt just smiled. "Ok, why don't we get something to eat? What d'you say?"
Tai just nodded in the affirmative and Matt shut the door.
A few seconds later he reappeared on the other side and settled into his own seat. Matt placed the key in the ignition and started it up. The engine coughed and sputtered but finally flared to life. To Matt's dismay that noise was still there. He would definitely have to tell his father about it. Without another word he peeled out of the parking lot, and they were on their way.
*~*~*~*
On the way Matt had a terrible thought. They were so far behind right now would they lose their reservation? He prayed to whatever Gods were listening, that that wasn't the case.
They found a spot not far from the restaurant and headed in hand in hand.
"Yes, can I help you?" said an elderly gentleman wearing a tuxedo.
"Um, yes. I have a reservation, under the name Ishida. For two."
The maitre'd eyed the young men suspiciously, and then checked his logbook. "Yes, Ishida. You had a reservation young man, but you were not here on time. Your reservation was for eight thirty and it is now quarter to nine."
"I know we are late. I'm really sorry. It couldn't be helped. Don't you have anything open for us? It is really important!" Matt was starting to become desperate. Obviously the Gods had more important things to worry about tonight than his date.
"Look here, we are very busy and don't have time to hold a reservation for someone who is a good 15 minutes late. If it was that important to you, shouldn't you have been on time?" the old man sneered.
"What do you know about it?" Matt was almost shouting now.
At this point in time, Tai interceded. "Matt it's all right. We'll just go someplace else. No big deal," He was gently starting to tug on Matt's arm.
"No it's not all right!" Matt hissed. Tai shrank back, but Matt was too worked up to notice.
"I think you had better listen to your um, 'friend' here and leave," said the maitre'd.
Matt heard the way he said 'friend' and didn't like it. "What is that supposed to mean? Do you have a problem with Tai? Because if you do, then you will have to deal with me."
"Matt, he didn't mean anything by it. Let's just go. Please!"
"Tai, I am not going to stand here and let this guy insult you."
"I am not insulted, I swear. I just don't want any trouble."
Tuxedo peered over Matt's shoulder and addressed Tai. "Tai is it? You seem to be sensible, so I will explain this to you. If you do not leave in the next 30 seconds, I will call security and they will escort you out. Do you understand?"
"Yes, fine. We are leaving. Right, Matt?"
"Fine. But don't think we are ever coming back here again!"
"We shall mourn the loss. I am sure."
Matt glared back at Tuxedo and was about to say something when Tai dragged him out the door.
Matt pulled out of Tai's grasp and stalked to the van. He couldn't remember being so mad. The nerve of that guy! Just because he was older didn't give him the right to be rude. He turned to see Tai following behind a few paces back. "Let's go, Tai."
Matt walked up to the van and slammed his fist into the door just as Tai walked up and placed his hand on Matt's shoulder.
"What?" he whirled around to face Tai who had backed up and whose eyes were wide with...was that fear? 'Was Tai afraid of him?'
"Oh no, Tai," it dawned on him that after being abused by his first boyfriend, behaviour like that was bound to frighten him. He advanced toward the small brunette who looked like he was about to bolt. Matt raised his hand to cup Tai's cheek but stopped cold as Tai flinched. Matt let out a soft groan as his heart broke.
"Tai, please. I won't hurt you. I could never hurt you. Don't back away from me."
This time Tai let Matt touch him as he once again, found himself being held by his boyfriend.
"Angel, I am so sorry. I never thought about what I was doing. I didn't mean to frighten you. I would never raise my hand to you. Never. You must believe that."
"I do Matt, it's okay," Tai paused. "Can I ask you a question?"
"Anything, Love."
"That was the second time tonight you called me Angel. Why?"
"Because that is what you are, my perfect little angel."
"Matt, I..."
Matt placed his finger against Tai's lips. "Shhh, you don't need to say a word. All you have to do is just be here and let me love you."
Tai responded by flinging his arms around Matt's neck and placing a gentle kiss on Matt's lips. It wasn't a passionate kiss, but that wasn't what moved Matt. It was the simplicity and honesty of the gesture. Tai nestled his head on Matt's chest just under his chin and the taller boy wrapped his arms around his waist, and sighed happily.
"Tai?"
"Hmm?"
"Are you hungry?"
Tai looked up. "Oh, yeah I am."
"Okaaaay, so where should we go?"
"It doesn't matter Matt. You really don't have to try to impress me," he leaned in close to his boyfriend. "You already have me."
Matt smiled. "Why don't we go for Chinese then?"
"Sounds great!" said Tai happily.
Matt opened the passenger side door to the old van and gestured with a sweep of his arm. "Your chariot awaits me Lady."
Tai curtsied low. "Thank you m'Lord," and hopped into the seat.
*~*~*~*
They had a nice quiet dinner. They ate and they talked for the rest of the evening. Matt wondered as Tai ate, where he put all the food. He never seemed to gain any weight. Which was just fine with Matt. Too soon it seemed, dinner was over. Matt paid the check and the two headed for the door. By this point it was around 10:30pm.
As they stepped out the door they were hit with a blast of wind.
"Ugh," said Matt. "It's raining, just great."
They stood for a moment under the canopy watching the sheets of rain fall on the darkened city. Tai wrapped his arms around himself and shuddered.
Matt felt rather than saw it, and looked down at his boyfriend. "Tai? Are you cold?"
"Yeah Matt, a little," admitted Tai.
Matt took off his jacket and placed it around Tai's shoulders. He rubbed his arms vigorously trying to warm him up.
"Thanks Matt."
"Well let's get you out of the rain before you catch cold. You wait here and I'll get the van."
"Okay."
Matt ran off toward the parking lot, leaving Tai watching from the sidewalk. As he reached the vehicle a thought hit him. 'I hope I didn't leave the keys in my jacket.' But upon a quick search, he found them in his pants pocket. He quickly unlocked the door and hopped in the seat, slamming the door.
"Whew," he said aloud. Matt shook the rain from his hair and put the key in the ignition. The engine made an awful whining noise, clicked a few times and then died. He tried again. click-click-click.
"Oh, come on. Don't do this to me. Not now!" Matt tried it one more time...nothing. "Fuck!" he swore, pounding on the steering wheel. He jumped as he heard a knock on the window. It was Tai. He rolled down the window.
"Problems?"
"Fuck Tai, get in here. It's pouring!"
Tai ran around to the other side and got in. "Wow, it's really coming down out there!" he exclaimed.
"How long were you out there? Jesus Tai, you are soaked!"
"When you didn't come back, I followed to see what was wrong."
Matt slumped in his seat. "The van won't start."
"Oh," Tai paused. "So what do we do now then?" he asked in a small voice.
"I guess I should call a tow truck now, shouldn't I!" he snapped back.
"Well I wouldn't know Yamato. Just do whatever you want," Tai turned in his seat and faced out the window, his arms folded over his chest.
Matt sighed. 'What the hell was going on tonight? Was fate trying to make sure this night went badly?' He addressed the pouting brunette sitting to his right. "I'm sorry Tai. I didn't mean to yell at you."
Tai was in full pout mode now, something Matt would learn to hate, and never be able to resist in the future. This was his first introduction to it. "Yeah well, I didn't do anything. I was only asking."
Matt looked over at Tai; he looked like he was about to cry. He sighed again. "I know and I am sorry. I had no right to snap at you like that. All right?" Tai didn't respond. "All right Tai?" Matt placed a hand on his shoulder.
Tai turned to face the blonde and gave him one of his patented grins. He nodded in response.
"Good," Matt leaned over and quickly brushed his lips against Tai's. "Now, let me call that tow truck. As much as I dream about spending the night with you, the minivan was not what I had in mind."
As Matt pulled out his cell phone Tai blushed and looked down at his hands, which were folded in his lap. A moment later Matt tossed the phone on the dashboard and looked over at Tai, whose eyes were still downcast.
"What's wrong?"
"What you said earlier, did you mean it?" he asked for the second time that night.
"What? That we are in front of Wing Chow's and the van won't start?"
"No silly. About...um...spending the night with me." Tai was blushing furiously now.
Matt blinked. "Of course, Tai. You are my boyfriend and I love you. I won't lie to you and say that I've never thought about having sex with you. Because I have. A lot. I've even dreamed about it."
Tai let out a little squeak form some where in the back of his throat.
Matt smiled and continued. "Tai I find you extremely sexy. What guy, or
girl for that matter wouldn't? And I do hope that we will reach that stage at
some point in our relationship. It is part of a natural progression." Matt
took a hold of Tai's hand. "But don't worry Angel. It will happen when
both of us are ready, not just because ole' Matt's
sexy boyfriend has given him a raging hard-on." Matt smiled and leaned
forward a little closer. "Okay?"
"Okay."
"Besides, if your father found out that we had sex on the first date, we would kill me. Especially after that talk we had earlier."
Tai couldn't hold in the laughter any longer.
"There's my boy. It is so good to hear you laugh again Tai."
They both were silent for a moment. Matt finally spoke up. Why don't I call my dad to come pick us up? He has a company car the TV station gave him."
"Sounds good. I am freezing. I'd really like to get out of here."
"Don't worry the tow truck should be here soon, and we can get you dried off."
*~*~*~*
A short time later the large towing truck lumbered into the parking lot, followed by Mr. Ishida.
"Matt, what happened?" Mr. Ishida asked running over to the van containing the two boys. "Are you both all right?"
"Yeah dad, we're fine. The van won't start that's all."
"Damn, I knew I should have taken it in when I had the chance. It has been acting up recently."
All three watched as the tow truck operator hitched up the Ishida's van.
"Where do you want me to take it?"
"Kenji's garage on Main St."
"Sure, that's not too far from here." The burly driver got in his truck and started away.
"Come on boys get in. The sooner we get this taken care of, the sooner we can all go home."
*~*~*~*
Half an hour and $75.00 later Tai, Matt and his dad were back on the road.
"So where are you boys off to now?"
"It's getting kind of late dad, I think we should just call it a night," Matt called softly from the back seat. He looked down at Tai who was nestled against Matt's chest, fast asleep.
"Should we swing by Tai's place and drop him off?"
"Um, let's just go home and then figure out what to do with him. If I just dumped him at home and that's not what he wanted to do, I'll never hear the end of it."
"But son, he's asleep."
"I know, but you don't know Tai like I do. I have a feeling it'll be better this way for everyone involved."
Mr Ishida chuckled to himself as he watched Matt gently stroke Tai's chestnut hair.
Finally they arrived back at the apartment. Mr. Ishida waited as Matt tried to wake up Tai.
"Tai? Come on Angel you have to get up. We're home," he gently nudged his boyfriend. "Wake up Tai, we have to get you out of those wet clothes."
"Hmm? Matt?"
"Yeah it's me. Let's go Angel, I'll help you."
Each taking an arm, father and son helped Tai make it to their apartment. Tai was still half asleep. As they entered the darkened rooms, Mr. Ishida turned on some lights as Matt placed Tai on the couch.
Matt then headed for the kitchen, grabbed a soda from the fridge and sat down at the table. "Whew. You know for someone so skinny he sure is heavy."
"So, how did it go?"
Matt looked up as his father sat down across from him at the table. He sighed, "Okay I guess."
"Just okay?"
"Well over all it went okay, but it was like there was something against us the whole time. I mean, right from the beginning I was late. Then what happened at the restaurant, then the van. All I wanted to do was take my boyfriend out for a nice evening. I guess we never will get to go dancing tonight."
Mr. Ishida cocked an eyebrow at his son, "What happened at the restaurant?"
"Long story, I'll tell you later."
"So what now?"
"I guess I'll wake him up and see if he wants to go home."
Matt took a long swig from his soda, then stood up. He made his way over to the couch where Tai lay.
"I don't ."
Matt jumped at the unexpected sound. "I thought you were asleep."
"Not anymore. And I don't."
Matt was confused. "Don't what?"
"Want to go home."
"Aww, Tai. It is getting really late. It is after midnight."
"I don't care," Tai set his jaw. "If you wanted me to go then why did you bring me here and not just take me home?" he asked smugly.
"Because I know you and I knew enough to let you make the decision," Matt sat down beside Tai.
"So you want me to go home?"
"I didn't say that Tai."
"Well then if the decision is mine, I want to stay," he looked over at Matt's dad. "If that's all right with you."
"Matt can I speak to you for a moment?" came from the kitchen.
"Hang tight Tai," as the blonde went back to the kitchen.
"Matt do you think it's a good idea for Tai to sleep here tonight?"
"Nothing will happen dad, I promise. Tai and I already had this discussion earlier."
"Matt," his father warned.
"Look, Tai can sleep in T.K.'s room if it makes you feel more comfortable."
Mr. Ishida thought about this for a moment. They had a spare room made up for when T.K. slept over. "Look Matt, it's not that I don't trust you, or think that you would hurt Tai. It's just that you have to be careful right now. Tai is still healing. And even though you may not mean it, you could very easily manipulate him into doing something he may not be ready to do," He paused and looked at his son. "All right Matt. He can stay. But you have to call his parents and tell them."
"Can't you dad?"
"No way Matt. You want your boyfriend to sleep over, you call them. Or Tai can, I don't care, but one of you is making that call. How do you think Mr. and Mrs. Kamiya are going to feel when they discover that their son didn't come home last night?"
"All right, I'll call."
"I mean it Matt."
"I promise, I'll do it right now."
"All right . I trust you son, just be careful. Don't let me down."
"Okay dad, I won't. I will sleep in my bed and Tai will sleep in T.K.'s."
"Good boy. Well, I am going to head to bed myself. You two don't stay up too late, now."
"Night dad."
"Good night Matt. Have a good night Tai."
"Good night Mr. Ishida," Tai called from his perch on the couch.
Matt waited until he heard the soft click of his father's bedroom door closing, then went back to sit next to Tai.
"So what did he say?" asked Tai, his eyes half closed. He was obviously fighting sleep.
"You can stay."
"Yay! I just didn't want this night to end."
"Tai, this is only the first date. We have many, many more ahead of us."
"I know, but this is one is special."
"Oh, we have to call your parents to let them know you are spending the night," Matt stood up.
"Do you want me to do it?" asked Tai sleepily.
"No, I'll do it. Like my father said, I want you to sleep over so I will be the one to make the call."
Matt made his way over to the phone and dialled the familiar number.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Mrs. Kamiya?"
"Matt? Why are you calling at this time? Is Tai okay?"
"Yes, everything is fine. Don't worry. I am sorry for calling so late, but I just wanted to let you know that Tai will be spending the night here." Matt heard talking in the background.
**"Who is that?"
"It's Matt. Tai is sleeping there tonight."
"No he isn't."
"Now Michael, just relax."
"Let me talk to him."**
"Hello?"
"Hello Mr. Kamiya," Matt gulped. He really didn't need to get chewed out by Tai's father at this time of night.
"So what is this I hear about Tai spending the night?"
"I know what you are thinking sir, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Tai is half asleep right now on the couch. I am going to move him to my brother's room. And I will sleep in my own."
"Uh-huh."
"Seriously, Mr. Kamiya. My father is here in the next room. You can ask him if you like."
"No Yamato that won't be necessary. You are a responsible lad. I am going to trust you. He can stay the night."
"Thank you, sir."
"Just get some sleep."
"Yes sir, we will. Good night."
"Good night Matt," and with that he hung up the phone.
When he came back in the living room, Tai was staring at him anxiously. "So?"
"I think you should have been the one to talk to your dad."
"My dad answered?"
"No, your mom. But your dad took the phone from her."
"So what did he say?" Tai was a little worried now.
"You can stay."
"Cool!" Tai jumped up, wrapped his arms around Matt's neck and kissed him.
Matt lengthened the kiss longer than Tai had intended, his arms coming up to circle Tai's slim waist. When Tai opened his mouth slightly, reflexively; Matt pushed his tongue through. Tai's eyes widened in surprise. He was wide-awake now. A small mewing sound emitted from the back of his throat as he felt Matt's soft, warm tongue slide over his.
Matt smiled into the kiss. That was the sound Tai made earlier tonight. He would have to remember it for future reference, and experiment to discover exactly which actions could make that sound come out.
Finally Tai pulled back breaking the kiss, as he had no air left in his lungs. "Wow. Matt."
"Wow is one word to describe it," he shifted uncomfortably. All of a sudden his pants seemed just a little too tight.
"That was amazing."
"Only because I shared that kiss with you my Angel," Matt still held Tai around the waist.
Tai was about to say something, but before he could say a word he let out a huge yawn.
"All righty then. Tai you certainly know how to kill the mood."
"Sorry Matt."
"No problem. Let's get you to bed."
Tai gave him a look.
"That's enough of that. I meant you to your bed, me to mine."
Matt took Tai by the hand and led him to the spare room. Just as they entered, Tai sneezed.
"Bless you. Tai, you're still wearing those wet clothes! I'm sorry, I forgot!"
"It's okay Matt."
"No it isn't. You have probably caught a cold, and sitting in those clothes all night probably didn't help. Wait here, I'll get you a pair of my pyjamas to change into."
Matt was gone and back in a flash. "Here, try these. They might be a little big, but they're dry."
Tai just stood there for a moment.
"Tai?"
"Um, could you like, turn around or something?"
"Oh! God, yeah. I'm sorry." I'll stand outside.
Tai felt bad about asking Matt to leave, he was his boyfriend and all. But he wasn't comfortable changing in front of him. He quickly shed his wet, clammy clothes and pulled on the pyjamas. Then he called Matt back in.
"Okay, I'm done."
"You look warmer all ready. Hmmm, a little big, but they will do."
The bottoms were too long for Tai and hung over his feet, trailing on the ground. And he had to roll the sleeves up a little as well. Matt thought we looked adorable.
Out of nowhere, "I'm sorry."
"Sorry? For what?"
"For making you leave while I changed."
"You have nothing to be sorry about, Tai. So you didn't want to change
in front of me. So what? That's
normal. We've only started dating. Eventually you'll be doing it on purpose
just to tease me," Matt winked.
Tai didn't looked convinced.
Matt took Tai's hand and pulled him over to the bed, sitting him down. "Don't sweat it Tai. It's really no big deal. I promise."
"Okay. It's just that I love you so much. And I want to do for you what a boyfriend is supposed to do, but..."
"Whoa, hold on there a minute. Stop right there. Tai, I don't expect anything from you just because you are my boyfriend. Never think that there are certain things that are expected of you. Why would_?" Then he understood. He grabbed Tai by the shoulders to make sure he was listening. "I. Am Not. Toshi. My God Tai, what did he do to you?" He pulled Tai into a fierce hug and Tai started to cry into his shoulder.
Great racking sobs were pulled form Tai's chest as some of the hurt and pain came flooding back. Matt just held him and stroked his hair whispering soothing words in his ear, trying to calm him down.
*knock-knock-knock*
"Matt! What's going on in there?"
Matt let go of Tai and opened the door just enough to squeeze through. He closed the door behind him. "Nothing dad it's okay."
"It doesn't sound like nothing," he glanced at the bedroom door. They could both hear Tai still crying.
"We were talking -- that's all. And anyways, the way that asshole treated Tai sort of came up. He got a little upset."
"Oh Matt, see what I mean? His psyche is very fragile right now."
"I know dad, I understand. We just have to take things slow," Matt turned toward the closed door. "I am going to get him settled, then go to bed."
"All right, night son."
Matt carefully opened the door and went in. Tai was curled upon the bed. He seemed calmer, but his face was still wet with tears.
"Hi Angel. Feeling better?"
"A little," Tai admitted.
Matt went over to the bed and sat down. Tai scooted over and placed his head in Matt's lap. Matt stroked his back.
"I'm sorry for being such a big baby."
"Stop apologizing for anything. I am not going to stop loving you because you happen to be sad. I only wish that you weren't."
"You make it better Matt."
Matt shifted Tai until he was in a sitting position. He wiped the tears from his face, and looked deep into his dark brown eyes. "I love you Taichi Kamiya."
And with that Matt brought his face closer to Tai's and their lips pressed together. Tai's arms instinctively went around Matt's neck, while Matt continued stroking Tai's back. Matt pulled away, and attached his mouth to the side of Tai's neck. The brunette's head fell back, which encouraged Matt to suck harder. Tai let out the little mewing sound that had his boyfriend so entranced.
'Aha! There it is!' Matt thought while continuing his ministrations. His hands roamed around to the front of Tai's pyjamas, and started unbuttoning the shirt.
"Matt...uh, Matt?" Tai squirmed a little. "Matt no, please." He pushed against the blond with his arms, trying to get distance between them.
By this point, Matt's lips had already made their way to Tai's now bare chest.
"Matt! Stop!"
Matt looked up from what he was doing and paused. "Tai?"
"I can't. I just can't," Tai was shaking his head frantically.
"Hey, hey it's okay," Matt sighed and sat back. "I'm sorry. I guess I was starting to get carried away. And after all I said to you. All the reassurances I gave you."
"Matt, don't. You stopped when I asked. I'm okay."
"But what if I didn't?"
Tai smiled, "But you did. It's been a long day. Why don't we get some sleep huh?"
"You're right. I am getting tired," Matt kissed Tai again. "Good night my angel."
"Good night Matt."
Matt watched Tai start to get under the covers and then turned off the light and left the room. He headed for the bathroom. Once there he locked himself in.
"Fuck! Nice going Ishida. Why not just rape him right there?" He looked at himself in the mirror. "Are you determined to make him afraid of you or what?"
Matt vowed to himself that this incident would never happen again. He would have to be extra careful from now on. His only other problem now was that he had this massive erection to get rid of.
Unbuckling his pants, he slid them down his waist, followed by his boxers. He backed up leaned against the counter; one hand on the cool Formica top, the other slid down and grasped his fully erect penis. Matt let out a moan as his hand slid down the length of his shaft and back up again. Slowly he sped up the strokes faster and faster as his pleasure increased.
"Tai...Oh, Tai," he mumbled lost in the sensations.
The young blonde felt himself getting closer to completion. He reached behind him and grabbed a handful of tissue from off the counter top. With a final guttural moan Matt threw his head back, eyes closed tight, and finally came; shooting his semen in the wad of tissue held at the ready.
Unable to support himself any longer Matt Ishida collapsed to the tiled floor, head slumped over and breathing hard. Standing up he got redressed and carefully opened the bathroom door. Peering out to see if anyone was around he made his way to his own bedroom to get ready for bed.

The next morning Matt and his father were up having coffee when Tai came out of the bedroom.
"Morning beautiful," Matt smiled.
"Matt!" Tai whispered motioning to Matt's father.
Mr. Ishida chuckled, "It all right Tai. Matt is just incorrigible. Did you sleep well?"
"Yes sir, I did."
"Good. Well I am off to work. Have Matt make you some breakfast, he's a wiz with eggs."
"See ya dad," Matt called as Mr. Ishida left.
"So are you hungry?"
"Umm, no not really."
"Taichi Kamiya the super human garbage disposal isn't hungry?" Matt ran over and placed his palm against Tai's forehead.
Tai pulled back. "Ha ha, very funny."
"So what do you want to do today, babe?" Matt asked placing a cup of coffee in front of Tai.
"Don't know. Just lay around maybe."
"That could have its advantages."
Tai just gave him a look and continued with the conversation. "I suppose I'll have to make an appearance at home first home."
"That's true- Oh fuck, Tai! Your neck!"
"What! Is it a bug? Get it off Matt!"
Matt just groaned and slumped in his chair. "You're dad is going to kill me," he placed his hands over his eyes.
"Matt, what is it?"
"Come here," he pulled Tai up off the chair and dragged him into the bathroom. He placed Tai in front of the mirror and turned his head to the side.
There on his neck was a small red mark. A hickey, courtesy of one Matt Ishida.
"Well Tai, it was swell knowing ya. Because when you get home I am a dead man."
"Don't be silly. Nothing is going to happen. They probably won't even notice it."
"Hey, maybe Kari has some make-up we could cover it up with."
"Matt, would you relax? If they ask, I'll make something up. Now, if you will step outside I will take a shower and we can get going. Okay?"
"You're right, you're right."
Matt left the bathroom and went back to the kitchen to finish his coffee.
*~*~*~*
A short time later Tai entered the kitchen freshly cleaned and ready to go.
Matt grabbed him from behind wrapping his arms around his waist and pulling him close. He nestled his face in Tai nest of hair and breathed in the scent. He could smell the faint odour of shampoo.
"Hmm, you smell good."
Tai twisted in Matt's embrace until he faced him. "I'm glad you improve."
Matt captured Tai's lips in a smouldering kiss. Finally Tai broke it off, a little breathless.
"Now, now Mr Ishida. We have to get going. Do you really want mom and dad calling wondering what you've done to their first born?"
"Okay, let's go. You ready?" asked Matt laughing.
"Yep all set, but how will we get anywhere? The van isn't here remember?"
"Oh shit, you're right," Matt ran to the window. Unlike Tai's apartment building, the parking lot was above ground and Matt could see his father's parking spot; which just happened to contain the company car. He smiled.
"Good old dad, he left us the car. He must have taken the subway to work."
"Excellent, let's go!"
The two left hand in hand, on their way to Tai's place.
*~*~*~*
A short drive later they pulled up in front of the apartment building. Matt ran up with Tai to his apartment.
"Here we are."
"Yeah, here we are."
"So."
"So, um."
Neither of them knew what to say. Matt finally spoke.
"Tai, tell me the truth. Did you have a good time? I mean with all the fuck-ups it's okay if you didn't."
"Matt, I love you. Just being with you last night was good enough for me. It didn't matter what we did. I had a really good time. Thank you for taking me out last night."
Matt smiled and pulled Tai in an embrace, their lips meeting once again kiss. Tai lost track of how many times they had done this in the past two days. But he didn't care. He would kiss Matt forever if that is what he wanted.
"Ahem."
Matt and Tai pulled apart, startled by the sound. Standing there was Mr. Kamiya!
"Oh hi dad."
"Good morning Taichi," he nodded at Matt. "Yamato."
"Hello Mr. Kamiya."
"Were you planning on spending the entire day in the hallway?"
"Um, no sir," Matt was nervous. He just kept hoping that Tai's dad didn't see the hickey.
"So are you coming or going Taichi?"
"I'm coming dad, for now," Tai pushed past his father and entered the apartment. "Talk to you later Matt," he yelled as he disappeared inside.
"Thank you for dropping off Tai, Yamato. I appreciate it."
"Oh, it was my pleasure sir."
"Yes, so I guess you and my son are in love?"
Matt stared at Mr. Kamiya. He never expected this. "Y-yes sir, we are."
"Well, I am glad to see he was found someone who will treat him right," he turned to go but turned back. "Good day Matt, I am sure Tai will be calling you shortly," he entered the apartment and closed the door, but before he did he winked at Matt.
"Wow," was all Matt could think of to say.
He headed back downstairs and out to the car. As he was about to get in he heard...
"I love you Matt Ishida!"
Matt looked up and saw Tai out on his balcony. He waved. "I love you too Tai Kamiya!" he yelled back.
Tai blew him a kiss. He waved bye once more and got in the car. As he drove home he couldn't help but smile. There were a few bumpy roads along the way, but over all the date went well. 'Thank God!' The most beautiful guy in the world loves him, and they were on their way to a wonderful life together. What more could he want?
