| Julian McMahon was born on July 27th, 1968 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He is the second of three children, and began studying law at the University of Sydney, but he bcame frustrated and took up a career in modeling. He worked primarily in commmercials, but then he took a traveling assignment for print ads in LA, New York, Milan, Rome, and Paris. When Julian landed the starring role in an aussie series called "Home and Away", he turned his attention towards acting. A national magazine gave him an award for best actor during his time on the show, after which he took a leading part in the feature film, "Exchange Lifeguards". He then left Australia to try his hand at American films. He was cast as Ian Rain on NBC's "Another World" in 1992, and two years later he appeared in a few various plays in LA. During this time he also appeared on the feature films, "Women in Control" and "Magenta", before landing his role on "The Profiler" on NBC. He married a model named Brooke Burns, with whom he had one child, a girl, named Madison. They are currently separated and Julian is dating his former co-star, Shannen Doherty. They star together in the TV movie, "Another Day", showing this month on USA. |
