RONALDO ROQUE a.k.a. ARDIE
20 January 2001
Talofa to fellow SamCo'ers, and a big Malo
to Jebi for taking the initiative and time for maintaining this
site.
My sister Ena and I left Samoa June of 1984 to pursue our
tertiary education in the Philippines amidst political turmoil of
the time. I graduated in 1989 with a BS in Computer Engineering -
thanks in part to a very inspiring mid 80s TV sitcom called Whiz
Kids and a movie hit War Games.
I married Carol after graduating and moved to Ame rican Samoa
November of 1989 where I worked as a sales manager for a
computer/print shop business. After 18 months of selling Apples
and true blue wannabees, I transferred to a software company
where we developed custom written systems for private and go v
ernment sectors. I was then enticed in 1993 to try out a career
in the government sector where I worked as a Computer Programmer
(1993-1995), Systems Analyst (1995-1998) and finally as an
Information Systems Manager (1998-2000) for the sole health care
provider on the island.
Moving to the states, where I'm currently at is a big step after
living the island life for 11 years. I'm happy to say that Carol
and I are blessed with four wonderful children ages 11, 10 and 9
(yup, nothing else to do on the island).
"Wait a minute!" you ponder, "Ardie mentioned four
kids but I can only count three from the ages he gave! How could
this be possible?"
"Read on" I say:
Czarina is now 11 (a splitting image of her mom), my TWIN boys,
Robert and Ronald who are 10 (a splitting image of each other),
and my youngest daughter, Charlene who is 9 (they say kinda looks
like me). Monique can attest to this.
So there, Ardie's life in a coconut shell after Samoa College.
