What the hell is Sambonemania? Well, I'm glad you axed! Sambonemania started in 1995! I pretty much started recording songs on a 4-track recorder and didn't stop from there! Every time I had enough songs to fill a complete 80 minute cd, it became a volume in the Sambonemania collection. For example, Volume one contains material I recorded back in 1995 and holds probably 70 songs on it! I have the hard copies of all the Sambonemania cds from Volume 1-11! I've pretty much put Volumes 1-9 on a cd as a data cd! Volumes 10-18 were put onto data cd as well! Sambonemania contains pretty much as I can recover, all the songs I've ever recorded whether it be in the studio, on 4track, live, everything I can put onto cd to mp3 and data formats. I've had probably 4 four-track recorders in my time and 3 of them were probably the same and 1 recorded in all speeds. The 4track recorder I have now only records in high speed, so I probably can't recover material recorded at normal speed and super high speed. So that is probably a percentage of material that is on tape, but I never put it onto cd/mp3 formats! Most of the Sambonemania material from 1995 to about 1996 were recorded on a Tascam 4track recorder which recorded only in high speed. The next recorder I got was a Marantz which I had from 1996-2004 and I recorded in many different speeds such as normal, high speed, super high speed. The tape player died on me in 2004 and I had to get a new one which I paid 100 bucks for which was very basic and pretty much sucked. So I traded it to a friend of mine and got his and I am currently using it now. Material from 1995 was stuff that was pretty much my angry punk rock/Ramones/Johnny Thunders/Iggy material. Come to think of it, it all sounded like the Angry Samoans in my book! When I joined the Nightcaps in 1996, I was writing and recording many songs! My songwriting got better! After I left the Nightcaps, I went into a deep depression from quitting rocknroll and other things in my life and I started writing country songs which turned into Rockabilly songs which got me more into rocknroll and punk rock again and I haven't turned back! Nowadays, my songwriting is more meaningful! I do my best to write lyrics the best I can! I do my best to write music the best I can! And if I feel the songs are worthy of recording, I usually record them! I may write many songs, but the recorded material is probably just 75 percent of what I've written! There are many songs that never made it onto tape! Oh well! That's a lotta gotdam work!
