It’s beautiful here, more beautiful than I ever imagined.

As I sit here, the water gently lapping at the edges of the pond, the light breeze stirring the air, the crystal clear sky above, I feel more relaxed, more at peace than I have for a long time.

Daniel and Teal’c left several hours ago amid excuses none of us really believed.

So now we’re alone, the general...Jack and I.

He’s sitting beside me now, close, holding my hand in his.

I feel him watching me.

I turn to him, and we both know that finally, this is our beginning.
