The Cathedral "Project"

In 1998 several Christian women petitioned Geocities for a "neighborhood" (like Paris) or at least a "suburb" (like Cathedral) devoted to Christian sites. Geocities has neighborhoods for a variety of special interests, and it didn't seem like this was an unreasonable request. We even suggested an "umbrella" neighborhood such as "HolyLand" with "suburbs" for a variety of religions, such as "Mecca", "Jerusalem", StoneHenge", and "Rome". Our requests went unheeded.

Nevertheless, Geocities did establish Cathedral. Those who know Christian history know that "Cathedral" is a not a word which means "large, gothic-styled church," but means a church where a bishop is located. Because of this obvious reference to Christianity and Christian history, many members of the group decided to establish sites here.

The Cathedral "project" was never a formal project at all, but rather an idea that sounded good to us. We are a diverse group of Christian clergy and laity with a variety of interests and gifts. You will find this diversity reflected in our sites.

We hope you will take time to visit all of our sites. Linger, enjoy, leave a message in our guestbooks, and return often. We pray that you will be blessed and uplifted. If you have a site at Paris/Cathedral, we hope you will prayerfully considering joining our Cathedrals webring.

God bless, and happy surfing!
