I really don't know much about Chichiri as a child, so most of this is probably grossly inaccurate. Please don't flame me. I had the image in my head and had to write it.
The blue-haired boy slammed into Hikou with enough force to knock him down. He remained sprawled on the ground for a moment, trying to catch his breath. When he could finally breathe again he sat up and glared at the other kid.
"HEY!" He snapped angrily, "Why in Suzaku's name, can't you watch where you're going!" Hikou stopped yelling when he noticed the upset look in the other boy's eyes. Hikou sighed and rubbed his head. "Don't get upset," He told the other kid, "it's just..." Hikou wasn't sure what to say at this point.
The blue-haired boy was looking up at him curiously. Hikou finally said, "well, just don't do it again." Getting to his feet, Hikou brushed himself off. He glanced down, "Are you OK?" The other boy nodded. Hikou reached out a hand, "C'mon. I'll help you up."
"Arigato" The smaller boy climbed to his feet with Hikou's assistance. He looked up at Hikou apologetically, "Gomen. I didn't mean to run into you. I guess I wasn't watching where I was going no da."
"That's all right." Hikou was feeling inclined to be magnanimious. He looked expectantly at the other kid. After a couple of minutes of complete silence he finally lost his patience. "Well?"
"Nani no da?"
"Aren't you going to introduce yourself?"
The other boy blinked, surprised, then said, "Hai! My name is Houjun." He reached up and smoothed back his hair, which promptly fell right back into place. "If it isn't too rude of me to ask... Who are you no da?"
"I'm Hikou." Hikou stuck out his chest proudly and gazed expectantly over at Houjun. He frowned at the puzzled look the other boy gave him, "Don't you recognize my name?"
"Iie." Houjun replied, "Should I no da?"
Hikou face-vaulted. He looked at Houjun, "How can it be that you've not heard of me?"
"Are you famous?" Houjun looked puzzled, and slightly afraid that he'd offended the other boy.
"Well, no..." Hikou sighed. "But I will be someday." He was confident, "I'll be a great hero, just you watch." He was glad to see that Houjun looked impressed.
"I've never known anyone famous no da!" The words tumbled out of Houjun's mouth in a jumbled rush. He reached out his hand to pull Hikou up on his feet. Hikou felt a wave of importance come over him, as the smaller boy gazed at him in awe.
Then he felt a little guilty. "Aw, stop," Hikou grumbled, "I'm not famous yet." Houjun stopped his praises, but still gazed at Hikou with a cheerful little grin. Hikou couldn't help grinning back.
Hikou felt a sudden rush of happiness and couldn't help laughing. Soon he was laughing so hard he couldn't stand up anymore. Houjun glanced at him with a puzzled expression on his face. "What's so funny no da?"
Hikou looked up grinning, "I just feel happy."
Houjun smiled, then giggled softly. "It's great to be happy." He agreed. Then they were both laughing their heads off for no really good reason. Being young, and alive and happy was enough.
Finally they couldn't laugh anymore, and sat on the ground catching their breath. Hikou looked up at the sky, still cheerful, and sighed, "It's getting dark." He could see the stars starting to come out, "Look Houjun, there are the stars of Suzaku!"
Houjun sighed too, tiredly. "I have to go home, it's late." He gave Hikou an apologetic look.
Hikou shrugged, "No problem." He smiled at Houjun, "I'll meet you here again tomorrow!"
The blue-haired boy blinked in surprise, "Hai!" Then he dashed off. Hikou watched him for a second, then turned his gaze back to the stars.
"If you're listening Suzaku...Arigato. It's nice to have a friend." Hikou slowly turned and walked towards his house.
The stars seemed to glow even brighter that evening.
