A Match Made in Heaven
By Chibi-Chichiri
Seiryuu’s head snapped up when he heard the door slam. *Uh oh! Suzaku sounds pissed!* He stood up as the winged god entered the room. “Hello Koibito! You’re home early.” He tried not to sound nervous. *I really, really don’t want Suzaku to start throwing things again*
“Don’t you ‘Hello’ me!” Suzaku snarled, putting his hands on his hips, “What the hell do your seishi think they’re doing trying to rape my miko!?!”
“What?!” Seiryuu was stunned, “My seishi were…” *Oh shit!*
“Don’t play innocent with me!” Suzaku’s red aura got even stronger, “You’re a god. I’m sure you know exactly what your seishi are doing at all times.”
“Well…,” Seiryuu twiddled his thumbs, “I’ve been…er…distracted…”
“What do you mean, distracted!?”
“Uh…”
Suzaku narrowed his eyes and looked at his lover sideways, “You’ve been seeing that awful Genbu behind my back, haven’t you?!”
“NANI?” Seiryuu sweat-dropped, “That’s not it at all!”
“Who then!?! Byakko? I’ll rip that cat’s stripey hide off and shove it up his…” Suzaku’s words were abruptly cut off as the slightly taller blue-haired god pulled him into a hug. “…Seiryuu…?”
“Gomen, Suzaku-chan,” Seiryuu murmered in his lover’s ear, “I know I haven’t been around much lately, but I was out looking for the perfect gift for our anniversary.”
That seemed to mollify Suzaku, “Our anniversary?”
“Hai.”
“oh..”
Taking advantage of the situation, Seiryuu rushed to the dresser and opened the top drawer. He pulled out a tiny, gift-wrapped box. “Our anniversary isn’t until tomorrow, but I don’t think giving it to you a little early would hurt.”
Suzaku carefully undid the ribbon and the wrapping fell away revealing a small box. Suzaku lifted the lid and gasped, “Seiryuu-chan! It’s beautiful!” He pulled out the tiny gold pendant on its thin gold chain. It was shaped like a phoenix in flight.
“….”
“Do you like it?”
Suzaku dropped his head so that his hair covered his eyes. He closed his hand tightly around the necklace.
“What’s wrong?”
“I…” Suzaku looked up his eyes bright with sorrow, “I didn’t get anything for you, Seiryuu-chan.”
Seiryuu smiled, “Is that all?” When Suzaku looked at him in surprise he continued, “I got you a gift for me.”
“What…” The winged god blinked as Seiryuu brought out a second box that was only slightly bigger than the first. “Another gift for me?”
“For *me* koibito.” Seiryuu grinned as Suzaku began to slowly unwrap the box, a confused expression on his face. Finally Suzaku was able to pull out a piece of red silk.
“How is this a gift for you?”
“I know what I like, koibito,” Seiryuu said in a tone that made Suzaku’s feathers stand on end. “and I know I’ll *love* seeing you in that little red nighty.”
*A nighty?* Suzaku looked down at the small piece of cloth, noting the way it was sewed. *I guess you could call it a nighty…* Something else caught his eye and he again reached into the box. He pulled out what appeared to be a couple of pieces of red cord knotted together. He blinked. “Nani?”
He looked around for Seiryuu, who had seemingly vanished, “Seiryuu-chan?”
“Yes, Koi?” Seiryuu’s voice drifted in from the other room.
“What is this?” Suzaku asked, gesturing to the cords. Then he realized that Seiryuu couldn’t see them from there. *Baka!*
Seiryuu replied anyway, “They go on under your nighty.” Then he chuckled evilly.
Suzaku blushed as he realized it was a pair of underwear. “Ne, Seiryuu! There’s not enough here to cover anything!”
“That’s the idea.”
The red-haired god was about to protest when Seiryuu emerged form the other room. Suzaku’s jaw dropped open as the other god casually walked in dressed in a thin blue robe that wasn’t closed in the front. “Eeep!”
The dragon god gave Suzaku his best “come-hither” look, which Suzaku responded to immediately. The two animal gods shared a passionate kiss, the likes of which would have driven a mortal over the edge.
It didn’t do that to Suzaku, but he felt a sudden urge to try out his new nighty…
* * *
*Knock* *Knock*
“Damn!” Seiryuu groaned as he sat up.
Suzaku brushed a couple of strands of red hair out of his face and threw his arms around Seiryuu’s neck, “Who could be calling this late?”
“I don’t know and I don’t care. I’m not going to answer the door.” Seiryuu grumbled and nuzzled Suzaku’s neck.
Laughing softly, Suzaku bit the dragon-god’s earlobe gently. Then he changed to a female form, flopped back on the bed and looked at Seiryuu coyly.
Seiryuu grinned *Suzaku sure fills that skimpy little nightgown out well.* The red-haired god was aware of it too, from the way she lounged on the pillows. *All right! This’ll be fun!*
The polite knocking had rapidly become a loud pounding, but the two preoccupied (heh heh…) animal gods didn’t notice. (snerk!) They shared another wild kiss and ignored the sounds completely.
Finally the knocker got fed up and bashed the door in. Then he zapped the bed into oblivion.
The two gods hit the floor hard, with Seiryuu on the bottom.
“Ow!” Suzaku rubbed her thigh where it had hit the floor. “What the hell do you think you’re doing!?” She yelled angrily, raising her head to look at the offender. A glimpse of him caused her to stop yelling with surprising rapidity. “Byakko!”
The tiger-god answered with a curl of his lip, showing off his perfect white teeth. “Good evening Suzaku…Seiryuu.” Byakko was being very polite, but Suzaku could tell that he was really angry and she gulped. Despite her earlier threats, she wasn’t sure she could actually beat the older god in a one-on-one fight.
“What’s up Byakko?” Seiryuu’s voice was curt and Suzaku winced as she noticed that Seiryuu hadn’t even used a respectful title.
This seemed to make Byakko even angrier. “What do you two think you’re doing!? You’re up here fooling around while your seishi and mikos wreak havoc!” Byakko curled one hand into a fist, “and they’ve dragged everyone else into it too…do you realize that your little ‘war’ is responsible for the death of one of my seishi!?!”
*Oh no!* Suzaku furrowed her brow, she knew Byakko was probably the most protective god when it came to his seishi and miko. “Gomen nasai, Byakko-sama,” she said, hoping to avoid a clash.
It didn’t appear to be working. A bright aura surrounded Byakko. Suzaku changed back to a male form and pushed Seiryuu against the wall, covering them both with his wings. There was a sudden angry snarl, and some loud noises, but the two young gods were not blasted.
Looking up cautiously, Suzaku realized why they hadn’t been attacked. Genbu had appeared and had Byakko backed against the wall. Both of them were surrounded by Genbu’s green aura.
Both Suzaku and Seiryuu got up and cautiously came closer. Byakko struggled for a moment, but gave up suddenly and slumped against Genbu’s chest, making tiny mewling noises in his throat. The dark-haired, dark-eyed, northern god slowly stroked Byakko’s pale hair. Strangely enough, to Suzaku it seemed like Genbu was comforting a little lost kitten, rather than the fierce-looking tiger he knew Byakko to be.
Byakko buried his face in Genbu’s neck and whimpered softly. Suzaku and Seiryuu both felt incredibly guilty when Genbu raised his somber, dark-eyed gaze to look at them. He didn’t speak, though.
“It’s not fair…”
Suzaku had to strain to make out Byakko’s words, and when he heard them he wished he hadn’t *Gomen, Byakko-san…Gomen…*
The tiger-god raised his head to meet Genbu’s dark gaze, “I’ve only got two left now…”
“Shhh…” Genbu continued to stroke Byakko’s hair, “It’s all right, Byakko-kun. They won’t be gone forever…”
“But I put so much work into each of them!” Byakko protested. He no longer sounded angry, though. Just resigned and a bit wistful. “Suzaku and Seiryuu’s seishi wiped my Tatara out in such a short time…” He looked like he might be going to rant again, but Genbu cut him off by putting a finger to his lips.
“Hush now, Byakko-kun. No one is questioning your ability to create a great seishi.” He looked at Suzaku and Seiryuu who nodded in agreement. “Perhaps it’s better this way.”
“What?”
Genbu waved his hand and an image of Tatara and Suzuno appeared. Dead they might be, but they still appeared happy. Now there was nothing left to keep the apart.
Suzaku could’ve sworn there were tears in Byakko’s eyes.
The white-haired god leaned against Genbu. He no longer seemed angry or upset at all. “Ne, Genbu-san. Isn’t that romantic?” There was a distinct emphasis on the word “romantic”.
“Hai, Byakko-kun. It is very romantic.” The two older gods were still leaning against each other, but Byakko had his arms around Genbu’s waist and Genbu’s hair stroking no longer seemed to be merely for comfort.
“Genbu-san…” A breathless whisper.
“Byakko-kun…” A low, throaty murmer.
Seiryuu and Suzaku both sweatdropped. They fell flat on their faces when the two older gods kissed.
The dragon-god propped himself up on one elbow and looked at his red-haired lover. “Ne, Suzaku-chan. This is our bedroom, right?”
“Hai.”
“And those two just kinda invited themselves in, right?”
“Seems so…”
“And we were…er…kinda busy, before they barged in and wreaked the mood, right?”
“Most definitely!”
“Well then,” Seiryuu gruned to the still kissing gods. “OK! That’s enough! Clear out!” When both gods glared up at him with offended looks on their faces, he added, “Well you interrupted us first!”
Genbu snorted and picked Byakko up in his arms. The tiger-god wrapped his arms around Genbu’s neck and gave the dark-haired god another kiss. When Seiryuu cleared his throat, Genbu broke the kiss and sighed.
He whispered in Byakko’s ear, “Let’s go somewhere more private.” Then both gods vanished.
“Finally!” Seiryuu crossed his arms, “I thought they’d never leave!”
He half turned in surprise as Suzaku grabbed his long blue hair and pulled. Before he knew what had happened, he had been pulled right into Suzaku’s lap. Suzaku laughed and leaned down to kiss him.
“Now that we’re finally alone, let’s have some fun!” Suzaku grinned at his lover as he said this. Then he changed to female form again. When Seiryuu attempted to kiss her, Suzaku danced out of reach. “Aren’t you forgetting something, Seiryuu-chan?” She called out playfully.
“Nani?” Seiryuu had no idea what Suzaku meant, but when the red-haired god (er..goddess?) waggled an eyebrow at him he got the point. He also changed to female form and began chasing Suzaku around the room. Both of them kept up the chase until they were tired, then Suzaku stopped in her tracks.
Seiryuu couldn’t stop in time and ran right into her. The two of them both fell over, but Seiryuu managed to conjure up a soft mattress for them to land on. She landed on top of Suzaku and quickly noticed that the other god had changed back to male form. She was about to follow suit when Suzaku stopped her.
“What’s the rush, Seiryuu-chan? Let’s play around like this for a while.” Suzaku glanced sidelong at the beautiful woman sprawled in his arms and grinned mischivously. “I know! Why don’t we take a bath!”
“Wha..?” Seiryuu didn’t have the time to ask any questions before Suzaku scooped her up and carred her to the tub. It was already full of hot water due to Suzaku’s godly powers.
Seiryuu, seeing no other options, took off her blue robe and carefully stepped into the water. When she turned to see if Suzaku was coming, he had vanished. “Koibito?” Seiryuu was about to step out of the water and go look for him, when he reappeared.
“Don’t get out of the tub, Seiryuu-chan.” Suzaku grinned, “I was just getting some things for you to put on after the two of us are done soaking.” He held out two items for Seiryuu to inspect. The first looked like a thong with a lot of little fringes, the second was a glittery bra that was so sheer it would only conceal things because it *was* glittery. Both items were made of pale blue silk.
Seiryuu gulped, obviously Suzaku was getting a bit of revenge for the gifts she’d given him earlier. Suzaku carefully put the clothes (snicker) where they wouldn’t get wet and joined Seiryuu in the tub.
To Seiryuu’s consternation, Suzaku spent more time trying to dunk her head underwater than anything else. It was one bath Seiryuu was glad to see the end of. Moments after she had gotten out, however, Seiryuu wished the bath had lasted longer.
Suzaku truly seemed to intend to enjoy himself at Seiryuu’s expense and spent a great deal of time making her blush with, er, suggestive comments about her outfit.
Finally Suzaku got around to some other stuff that Seiryuu enjoyed a great deal more. (ahem…moving on now…))
* * *
The ring of a bell almost went unnoticed by Seiryuu, but Suzaku’s muffled curse didn’t. The dragon-god sat up quickly, changing back to male form.
“I’m being summoned!”
The red-haired god groaned, “Can’t it wait?”
“Sorry, Koibito.” Seiryuu was apologetic, “I’ll be back as soon as possible.” He vanished.
“Damn!” Suzaku changed to his phoenix form and set the pillows on fire.
* * *
Seiryuu almost fainted when he heard his miko’s first wish.
*Seal Suzaku?!?* His mind reeled at the thought. He didn’t want to grant his miko’s wish, but a wish was a wish, whatever he thought of it. He raised his hand and made it so.
*Suzaku is gonna kill me when he gets his powers back on the god plane…* Seiryuu knew he could seal Suzaku’s powers on the mortal plane, but the god plane was another matter. Things like that weren’t permanent there.
Suzaku would still be pissed at him though… Seiryuu groaned and wished he’d never heard of mikos…
* * *
Suzaku squawked and raged as Seiryuu entered. The dragon-god sweatdropped and stared at his lover who seemed to be trapped in phoenix form. “Um…are you ok Suzaku?”
Seiryuu dodged a blast of fire aimed in his direction and quickly escaped, bolting the door behind him.
“Why me?”
* * *
Seiryuu was so angry he didn’t bother with formalities and consumed his miko instantly. When he heard her last wish he decided to let her spirit get by for a little message to Suzaku no Miko. He raged through Tokyo, taking out his anger on the buildings and anything else that got in his way.
He looked up in surprise when Suzaku materialized and descended, still very angry. *It’s just not my day…* The phoenix squawked and pecked at his dragon lover trying to hit sensitive spots. Seiryuu writhed and tried to twist out of Suzaku’s reach. It was almost a relief when Suzaku’s miko sealed him in the scroll.
Luckily he had the presence of mind to change back before his powers were sealed off…
* * *
Suzaku watched the proceedings with a certain satisfaction. Everything had turned out alright, and the phoenix-god of the south was pleased to note that things were now running smoothly. He’d spent all of his earlier anger toward his lover, but retained a certain amount of mischief.
He was going to have a lot of fun, now that Seiryuu was sealed in the scroll. Luckily he’d managed to persuade Taaitskun to give it to him.
A lot of fun, indeed. Suzaku smirked. “Seiryuu-chan? Hope you’re feeling energetic today. I’ve got plans for you!” The phoenix god vanished back to the god plane with a bright red flash.
And no interruptions this time…
The end.
