California Sea Lions at Point Dume Buoy
Compiled by

Every day for many years, Sea Lions haul out on the permanent buoy at Point Dume. However, since May 2001, between 40-60 Sea Lions now also haul out to rest and warm up their bodies climbing up on the offshore rocks and the cliffs below Point Dume. Fishermen and beachgoers with their dogs scare the Sea Lions back out to sea. In addition, the sportfishing boats and illegal sea urchin divers are scaring the Californi Sea Lions.
