Anstruther Davidson, M.D., was a specialist in dermatology as a practicing Doctor. However, his passion appears to have been natural history, flowering plants, and entomology. I will simply let his writings and those writing about him speak for themselves about the character and interests of this unique individual. He was an excellent biological scientist botanist, entomologist, and naturalist that many of us could do well to use as a model. I think you will agree that he qualifies as an ecologist and environmentalist as well, if he were alive today.
There are many plants and animals named for Anstruther Davidson.
