MISSION STATEMENT
The Baldwin Hills Bird Conservancy has a dual mission to preserve the birds that still occur in the Baldwin Hills in 2001 and to recover the birds that once occurred in the 'Bald Eagle' Hills in 1850 at California statehood.

The Baldwin Hills Bird Conservancy works closely with California State Parks, and works diplomatically to facilitate the transfer of LA County government from the state park lands, since it has been managed poorly for native birds. For example, once the golf course concept is eliminated from the Baldwin Hills, LA County will want to leave the State Park. To accomplish its mission, the Conservancy uses education programs such as the monthly field trips. We also disseminate information through this web site regarding ecology, history of birds in the Baldwin Hills, and environmental awareness at meetings that the California State Parks is conducting for public participation. These meetings are in the format of a Baldwin Hills Conservancy. The Baldwin Hills Bird Conservancy will be acquiring some small amount of land, for a nature center, in order to be a stakeholder with the State Conservancy and Culver City.

The web pages was provided to you to give you breadth to understanding the need for better protection of natural open space in Los Angeles, so that there can be a home for the native birds. The web page is also for educational purposes, knowledge, and curiosity of the natural landscapes of the Baldwin Hills as a significant part of CALIFORNIA WILD NATURE.
