Soil |
50-60% |
|||||||
Decomposed Cow dung |
40-50% |
|||||||
If the cow dung is not well decomposed, then first mix the cow dung with soil and leave it at moist condition for at least 45 to 70-day. Then with this soil mixture you can add other necessary fertilizer—for example 12" to 14" pot (8 to 12 liter) you can add following fertilizer:
Bone meal |
100-150gm | |||||||
Mustard oil cake / Neem cake / Sesame oil cake |
50-80gm | |||||||
Wood ash |
200-300gm | |||||||
Fish meal |
30-40gm | |||||||
Hoof and horn meal |
50gm |
|||||||
After
mixing these fertilizers with the soil mixture add some water to keep the mixer moist and leave the mixer for at least 15 to
30-day. Then the soil mixture will be ready for showing plants. Anyway it
is better to dry up the soil before showing the plant.

||||||||
Apply this Fertilizer Mixer immediately after pruning and after the end of first flowering/flash. These two application of this fertilizer is enough.
Bone meal |
1.5 kg |
|||||||
Mustard oil cake / Neem cake / Sesame oil cake |
3 kg |
|||||||
Fish meal |
1.5 kg | |||||||
Hoof and horn meal |
1 kg |
|||||||
Muriate
of Potash / Sulphate of Potash |
50-75 gm |
|||||||
Magnesium sulphate |
15 gm |
|||||||
Wood ash |
10 liter |
|||||||
Soil |
5 liter |
|||||||
Decomposed Cow dung |
10 liter |
|||||||
Mix these fertilizers and
add adequate water to keep the mixer moist and leave the mixer for at
least 7-8 week. Then the soil mixture will be ready to use. Anyway it
is better to slightly dry up the Fertilizer mixer before applying it to
plant. Depending on plant age and size apply 0.3 to 1.0 liter of this
mixture per plant. Mix Fertilizer Mixture after 15 August—then it will be ready for applying after pruning in October. |
||||||||
Apply this Fertilizer at 15 days interval all the year round (Except 15 March to-15 May and 15 August to 30 October.) Caution:
|
||||||||
Mustard oil cake / Neem cake / Sesame oil cake |
100gm | |||||||
Fish meal |
25gm | |||||||
Water |
2liter |
|||||||
Leave the mixer for at least 8-12 days
after mixing. Then mix additional 8-liter water with this mixer. The mixer
is now ready to give- depending on plant size apply 0.5-1.0 liter per plant.
Apply this Liquid manure at 12-15 days interval from 1 December to end of
the March. You can also apply this fertilizer from15 May to end of the June.

Foliar feed |
||||||||
Spray this Foliar feed at 12-15 days interval from 15, December to end of the March.
Di-Amonium Hydrogen Phosphate [K2HPO4] |
10gm | |||||||
Di-Ptassium Hydrogen Phosphate [NH4)2HPO4]
|
10gm | |||||||
Urea [CO(NH2)2] |
10gm | |||||||
Beside this you will find different kinds
of readymade commercial Foliar feed in the market—you can use them
also. |

Time: First
week of October to first week of November is the best time for pruning.
But some commercial gardens start pruning one month earlier to get early
flower market. I prefer to prune after 15, October--when there is no possibility
of heavy rain. Types of Pruning: There are three types
or pruning: (you will easily understand the difference of each type of
pruning from the picture) 1)
Hard Pruning |
||||||||
|
|
|
|
|||||
Before Pruning | After Hard Pruning | After Medium Pruning | After light Pruning
Though some varieties need special attention in pruning
but general rule is—HT requires medium to hard pruning – Floribunda requires
medium pruning—Miniature and Polyantha require light pruning. If you don’t know anything about pruning—then just
cut one third to half or the length of the bush. After pruning clean the garden and pick
all (the dead and dry) leaves then spray Mite-cide and Fungicide. |

Diary of Rose Growing |
||||||||
January: Apply
Liquid
Fertilizer at 15 days interval. Use
foliar-spry
at 12-day interval. You can apply organic
manure mixture at
the beginning of the month. Regularly remove dead blooms –just cut above
the second or third leaf down. Try to avoid spray Fungicide-because it creates
odd-looking spot on the leaf—spray pesticide regularly. Watch out for red
spider Mite—spray Mite-cide if necessary. You can show young plant now.
|
||||||||
February: Remove dead
flower, continue to apply Liquid Fertilizer at 15 days interval. Use foliar-spry
at 12-day interval. Try to avoid spray Fungicide-- spray pesticide regularly.
At the end of the month you can apply decomposed cow dung as mulch. Watch
out for red spider mite—spray Mite-cide if necessary. You can show young
plant now. |
||||||||
March: After 15 March
stop liquid fertilizering. Use foliar-spry at 12-day interval. If your plants
are healthy then lightly prune them at the end of this month. Watch out
for red spider mite—spray Mite-cide if necessary. |
||||||||
April: Stop foliar
feeding. If your plants are healthy then lightly prune them at this month
and apply cow dung as mulch. Watch out for red spider mite—spray Mite-cide
if necessary. |
||||||||
May: You can show young plant now. Spray Pesticide & Fungicide regularly.
June: Spray Pesticide & Fungicide
regularly. |
||||||||
July: Spray Pesticide & Fungicide regularly.
August: If you want to bud your won plant then it is right time for planting Rootstock. Spray Pesticide & Fungicide regularly. Apply 5 to 15 gm of lime (CaCO3) per pot. Mix Fertilizer Mixture after 15 August—then it will be ready for applying after pruning in October.
September: If necessary--change pot at the end of this month. Otherwise just remove top 3-5 inch soil of the pot. And fill half of it with soil mixture and top half of it with Fertilizer mixture. Spray Pesticide & Fungicide regularly. If your are changing pot then it is better to do it at least 15days before pruning – but if you are just removing top soil-- then it is better to do it 7 to 10-day before pruning.
October: Best month for Pruning. Apply Fertilizer mixture immediate after pruning. You can show young plant now. Spray Pesticide & Fungicide regularly. After pruning clean the garden and pick all (the dead and dry) leaves then spray Mite-cide and Fungicide. |
||||||||
November: Spray Pesticide
& Fungicide regularly-but careful about doge. Apply little lighter doge
than recommended—otherwise Pesticide & Fungicide might burn young leaf.
You can show young plant now. |
||||||||
December: Apply
Liquid Fertilizer at 15-day interval. Use foliar-spry at 12-day interval.
Try to avoid spray Fungicide-because that creates odd-looking spot on the
leaf. Spray pesticide regularly. Remove dead flower.
