Psychotic Musings upon the Nervous System
30.05.01
When the peripheral nervous system is damaged, it can repair itself (apparantly) but it the central nervous system is damaged, it can't heal.
This may be because of a coating (neurolemma) that the peripheral neurons have and the central neurons do not. But-- the peripheral nervous system
can also reroute teh impulses to different neurons, while the CNS has no alternate path. What if it's not a case of the neurons healing, as is stated in that movie we watched in science, but of the impulses being rerouted? That maybe why the CNS cannot be repaired.
