FACULTY OF AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY
(FATETA)

As of September 1993
HISTORY

The Faculty of Agricultural Technology and Mechanization (FATEMETA) at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) was established on October 3rd, 1964. The establishment of the Faculty was intended to support education in the field of land and power usages in agricultural sector and efforts to efficiently produce and increase the added value of Agricultural products, either food crops or cash crops, with high quality and good management.

FATEMETA started its Three Objectives of Higher Education activities (Tri-Dharma Perguruan Tinggi) with two departments namely the Department of Agricultural Mechanization (MEP) and the Department of Agricultural product Technology (THP). Four years later, in 1968, the name of the Faculty was changed to Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization and Technology with FATEMETA remained as the abbreviation.

In anticipating the further agricultural development in general, and agroindustry in particular, the name of the Faculty was subsequently changed to Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FATETA), on July 29th, 1981, which comprised of three departments: the Department of Agricultural Engineering (TEP), the Department of Industrial Technology (TIN), and the Department of Food Science and Technology (ITP). In 1984, the name of the Department was changed to: the Department of Agricultural mechanization (MEP), the Department of Agroindustrial Technology (TIN), and the Department of Food Technology and Human Nutrition (TPG).

SCOPE

The Faculty of Agricultural Technology of IPB is a higher education institute which integrate the instructional, the research and the professional cooperation programs in an effort to develop human resources and agricultural technology with agroindustrial characteristics covering agricultural machinery and equipment industry, agricultural product processing industry (including food industry), bioindustry (biotechnology) and agricultural service industry, in line with sustainable agricultural development systems in Indonesia.
