ENG 724: Technology for TESOL

ASSIGNMENT 9: WEB PUBLISHING

Goal: The purpose of this assignment is for you to develop an introductory understanding of how to create and connect web pages, so that you will be able to publish your final project report on the Web. In addition, I also hope you will connect your own web publishing experience with potential applications for your students.

Directions:

  1. Create a basic web page that will serve as your homepage for your 724 website. Remember to think of this as a "cover page" or "table of contents" this provides an overview of what is included in your site. From your homepage (index.html), you must link to *at least* the following:

  2. Create and begin to fill in your Final Project Report page (final.html). Using content from your previous assignments (A3, A5, A7), fill in a draft of the following sections (you can edit the content for your final submission): your info at top of page; Topic & Research Question, Relevance of Topic (Rationale), Sources. Leave the placeholder prompts in the other sections, to fill in when you're farther along in your project.

You can create your own unique page from scratch, or use the template provided by your instructor. If you create your own page, include the same information/subheadings outlined in the template.

NOTE: if using the template, you can choose one of the following: 1) download finalrpt_temp.doc and edit in Microsoft Word - save as HTML (following instructions provided in class during Week Seven) before uploading to Geocities; or 2) download finalrpt_temp.html and edit directly in Notepad (PC) or SimpleText (Mac), or in an HTML editor of your choice (e.g. Netscape Composer, Dreamweaver, FrontPage, etc.).

  3. Remember to create reciprocal links between your homepage, bio page and final project page. [See an example]
