ASSIGNMENT 5: LITERATURE REVIEW

Goal: The purpose of this assignment is for you to conduct a literature review, to get an overview of research and information already available on your final project topic. Another goal is for you to practice and apply Internet research strategies covered during in-class activities (including evaluation of content and citation of sources).

Directions: Using search engines on the Web (www.google.com, www.northernlight.com, etc.), the SFSU Library and/or Reserve Reading Room, and other appropriate resources:

• Locate at least 10 sources related to your final project topic (these can be books, articles, websites, etc.)
• Summarize each source in your own words (1 paragraph per article, site, etc.) - in particular, how does the content of the article or site relate to your project topic?
• Properly cite each source using current APA format [see citation handout]

Due: 03/07/01, 6:00 p.m.

Format:

• Word 98 or below (if using Word 2000 or 2001, save as 98)
• Save file as "Rich Text Format," using the following filename convention: a5_lastname.rtf
• Double-spaced
• 12 pt. font size
• Common font face (e.g. Arial, Verdana, Geneva, Helvetica or Times)
