The Golden Ratio

The Golden Ratio is an irrational number discovered by the Greeks that is said to be nature's perfect number. This number is the square root of 5, plus one, and divided by two; rounding out to be about 1.618. In nature, this number is seen in many places such as on the head of certain flowers. They grown in spiral patterns, each being the ratio equaling the Golden Ratio. The number hints that the universe shows signs of intelligent design. People often think that this number is seen in nature because it is the arrangement that makes for perfect spacing for growth. Other such things that are arranged following the Golden Ratio are pinecones, pineapples, and many leaf arrangements.
The odds of having life on earth are extremely slim. Our text gives us a great metaphor which helped me understand this concept. Imagine you are walking on a beach, and you know that one grain of salt lies somewhere in the sand. You stoop down and pick up one particle, and it happens to be the salt. That is the chances of human life existing on earth.
Just as human life existing on earth is slim, things in nature of completely different families being constructed with the same ratio is very slim, but, both do occurr. The principle behind the Golden Ratio is saying that this is no coincidence that this happens. The universe must have been deliberately created by intelligent design
Personal Critique of this Argument
After researching this topic I have come to believe even more that God did in fact create our universe deliberately, and that the universe was not created just by chance. I agree with the fact that it is too slim a chance that the universe was just accidentally created. We must have been created by an all powerful being: God.
