The Goodspeed
Opera House
was built by William Goodspeed in 1876. It was used for his
shipping and banking business. He loved music. The
opera
house opened on October 24, 1877.
After Goodspeed’s
death, the
opera house was used for other functions. In 1959, Goodspeed
Musicals
restored the building, and the Goodspeed Opera House was rededicated on
June 18, 1963. It is a popular place for people to enjoy musical
plays and comedies.
