Don't Leave "Christ" Out Of Christian

Sometimes when things are not so good
We all pray together in brotherhood.
We join our hands in common petition
But let us not leave the "Christ" out of Christian.

It's easy when we see the tears flowing down
To gather together on common ground,
But don't forget the gift of His Grace,
The Cross and the look of Christ's Holy face.

I've watched and listened when we all pray
For God to bless us and lead the way,
But when we join in common petition
Let us not leave the "Christ" out of Christian.

When hardships come we look to the skies.
In common bond we compromise,
But don't forget the sword in His side.
It would break my heart to see Him denied.

I'm not trying to change other people.
Some see a mosque, other's a steeple,
But to a Christian it's such a shame
To say a prayer and not mention His name.

In these hard times it's great to unite.
The brotherhood is a wonderful sight,
But there is one thing I beg to mention,
Please don't leave our "Christ" out of Christian.

I wrote this poem in light of the September 11, 2001, terrorist's attacks.
It is so wonderful to hear God's name being spoken so freely.  Wouldn't it
be wonderful to hear it in the schools again?  I know when we pray together
we guard our words so as not to offend or leave out anyone, but in the process
let's take care not offend or leave out our "Beautiful Savior".
