The amazing life of an apple...This particular apple was grown in an orchard nearby Bree, and when ripe, was transported to the Prancing Pony. Here, it was picked up by Aragorn, who was there known as Strider. The following day, when Aragorn and the hobbits escaped from Bree, the apple came with them. Pippin began complaining about how there was no time for second breakfast, so Strider hurled an apple (not this one) into the air where it was caught by Merry, and handed to Pippin. Then this apple was thrown into the air, where it was bounced off of young Peregrin's head. The apple died when it was consumed and digested by Pippin.
