FRODO BAGGINS OF THE SHIRE This hobbit from the shire is the ring-bearer. He was born in the year 2986 of the Third Age. His father, Drogo Baggins, and her mother Primula Brandybuck/Baggins died in an unfortunate boating accident when he was young. He was then adopted by Bilbo Baggins of Bag End. In the year 3001, Frodo inherited the one ring from Bilbo. In the year 3018, Gandalf returned to Bag End to set Frodo out on a quest that would lead him to destroy the ring. He succeeded in his quest, (to get all the details, I suggest you READ THE BOOK!) but after the War of the Ring, the poison wounds and mental trauma began to take a toll on dear Mr. Baggins. In the year 3021, Frodo boarded an Elven ship with several other ringbearers and sailed to the Undying Lands. |

SAMWISE GAMGEE OF THE SHIRE Samwise was another hobbit of the Shire. He was born in year 2980 of the third age and became a gardener for Frodo Baggins. He traveled with Frodo to Rivendell, where Frodo became the ringbearer. Being ever loyal, Samwise chose to stay with his master, rather than going back home. Sam saved Frodo's life several times and vice versa. He also bore the ring for a short time when Frodo was captured by the enemy. When the quest was complete, he returned to the Shire with Mr. Baggins, married Rose Cotton, and became the father of 13 children. He was the mayor of the Shire 7 times. After the death of his wife in year 82 of the 4th age, Sam sailed to the Undying Lands to rejoin his master and friend, Frodo Baggins. |

MERIADOC BRANDYBUCK OF THE SHIRE Merry was born in the year 1982 of the 3rd age. In the year 3018, he became one of the four hobbits of the fellowship. When the fellowship seperated, it was Merry and his friend Pippin whowere the first to be delivered into the hands of the enemy. They escaped into the Fangorn forest, where they met Gandalf the White. After time, they persuaded the Ents to attack Isengard. Later, Merry became a squire of King Theoden of Rohan. He would help slay the Witch King later with the help of the sheild maiden Eowyn. He nearly died then, but was healed by Aragorn. He fought in the battle of bywater when he returned to the Shire, married, and in the year 64 of the 4th age, left with Pippin to go to Rohan and Gondor, where they were buried among kings a few years later. |

PEREGRIN TOOK OF THE SHIRE Peregrin, or Pippin as many call him, was born in the year 2990 of the 3rd age. He traveled with Merry until Gandalf the White took him to Gondor where he was made a Guard of the Citadel and helped save the life of Faramir. Pippin distinguished himself by slaying a troll at the Battle before the Black Gate of Mordor. He was one of the largest hobbits in history, being almost 4 and a half feet tall. In the year 14 of the 4th age, Pippin became the 32nd Thrain of the Shire (like his father before him). He ruled until the year 64. He went with Merry to Rohan and Gondor then and spent their last years there, where later they died and were buried with honor in the house of Kings. |
