THE ANAPHORA OF SS ADDAI AND MARI

The Prayer of Peace

MAY this sacrifice come to our aid through the grace of Christ and lead us to everlasting life in the kingdom of heaven and may we celebrate these Mysteries with perfect love and true faith, offering unto Thee honor, praise, thanksgiving and worship; Father, Son and Holy Spirit, One God, in both worlds unto the Aeon of aeons.
Amen. Barekhmar!

THE LOVE of God the Father, the grace of the Only-begotten Son, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.
Amen. And with thy spirit.
LIFT up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
LET us give thanks to the Lord.
It is meet and right.

The Prayer of the Qadisha

TRULY worthy of praise from every mouth and of confession from every tongue and of worship and exaltation from every creature is the adorable and glorious Name of the Holy Trinity. Thou who didst create the world by Thy mercy and didst save humanity by Thy compassion and give great grace to mortals; Thy majesty, O Lord, thousands of myriads of those on high bow down and worship and myriads of myriads of holy angels and spirits- Thy servants of fire and wind- praise Thy Name with the cherubim and seraphim and offer worship to Thy sovereignty, shouting and praising and crying to one another saying holy!

The Qadisha

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Tzevaoth, heaven and earth are full of Thy glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He that comes in the Name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

The Prayer of the Anamnesis

HOLY art Thou, O God our Father, truly the only One, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named. Holy art Thou, Eternal Son, through whom all things were made. Holy art Thou, Holy Eternal Spirit, through whom all things are sanctified. Glory be to Thy tender mercies, because Thou hast associated the earthly with the heavenly. So do we stand before Thee at this time, O Lord, Thy weak and sinful servants gathered in Thy Name who have received by tradition that example which is from Thee, and say:

The Anamnesis

WHEN HE, the sinless one, prepared to accept death for us sinners, He took bread into His holy hands and when He had given thanks, He blessed and consecrated and broke it, giving it to His holy apostles, saying:
Sabu, akolu, hanau paghri.
Take, eat, this is My Body; which is broken for you and for the many, given for the remission of sins and for everlasting life.
Amen.
LIKEWISE He also took the cup and when He had given thanks, He blessed consecrated and gave it to His holy apostles, saying:
Sabu, eshthu meneh kolkhon, hanau demi.
Take, drink it all of you, this is My Blood; which is shed for you and for the many, given for the remission of sins and for everlasting life.
Amen.

The Prayer of Commemoration

WE GIVE thanks unto Thee, O Lord, even Thy weak and sinful servants, that Thou hast bestowed on us that great grace past recompense wherein Thou didst put on our humanity to enliven it with Thy divinity. Thou hast exalted our low estate and restored our fall and raised our mortality to immortality, forgiving our offenses and justifying our sinfulness and enlightening our knowledge. Thou hast given defeat to the enemy and granted victory to the weakness of our frail nature in the overflowing mercies of Thy grace.
Amen.

The Prayer of Thanks for All Things

MOREOVER do Thy weak and sinful servants, having received Thy grace, give Thee thanks and praise for all things and by reason of all things, O Lord.
We praise Thee,
We bless Thee,
We worship Thee
And we give Thee thanks,
O Lord, our God.

The Prayer of the Epiclesis

MAY THE Holy Spirit come down, O Lord, upon this sacrifice of Thy servants. Come with blessing to sanctify it, that it may be for us the forgiveness of our debt, the remission of our sins, the great hope of the resurrection from the dead and the life in the world to come.
Amen. Barekhmar!

The Epiclesis

HEAR me, O Lord! Hear me, O Lord! Hear me, O Lord, and have mercy!
Kyrie eleison, Kyrie eleison, Kyrie eleison!
MAY the Holy Spirit abiding here make this bread the life-giving Body the redeeming Body the true Body of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.
Amen.
AND perfect this chalice into the Blood of the new covenant, the redeeming Blood the true Blood of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.
Amen.

The Prayer for the Communicants

O LORD and God of all, transform by these holy Mysteries our uncleanness and corruption into the sweet aroma of Thy rich love. Cleanse us thoroughly of our sin and by Thy grace and mercy may we be led to this exalted, holy, life-giving and divine Mystery despite all our unworthiness.
Amen.

The Diptychs

Barekhmar! For the holy churches of God, for our Metropolitan, Mar _____, (for our Bishop, Mar _____,) for all the Orthodox Catholic bishops and for all the clergy and all the faithful, that their prayers may be a stronghold for us, let us pray to the Lord!
Kyrie eleison!
WE OFFER unto Thee this bloodless sacrifice, O Lord, first on behalf of the holy Zion, the mother of all the churches, and on behalf of Thy holy Church throughout the whole world, that Thou mayest grant to her the gift of Thy Holy Spirit. Remember, O Lord, our Metropolitan, Mar ___, (the Archbishop(s) Mar ___ (and Mar ___), (our bishop Mar ___) and the priests, the deacons and all the orders of Thy Church along with my own feeble self. Remember not the sins of my youth, but make me to live according to Thy mercy. Remember also our kindred: the prisoners, the sick, the infirm, the afflicted, and those who are tormented by evil spirits. Bless the air and the crown of the year, filling all the living with good will.

For the founders of this holy house, for those who pray with us here and for those absent from us, let us pray to the Lord!
Kyrie eleison!
REMEMBER, O Lord, them that stand and pray with us, and do Thou remember also them that have departed from among us and them that wished to offer this sacrifice but could not, and to every one grant what is good. Remember, O Lord, all them we have mentioned and them we have not mentioned and receive their sacrifices into the breadth of Thy heavens. Bestow upon them the joy of Thy salvation and make them worthy of Thy help. Strengthen them with Thy power and arm them with Thy might.

For pious rulers and for our civil authorities, let us pray to the Lord!
Kyrie eleison!
REMEMBER, O Lord, every pious ruler and governor. Aid them with the spiritual armor and subdue all their enemies that we may lead a peaceful life.

That He will remember our holy Fathers and Mothers, the Prophets and the Apostles, Saint John the Forerunner and Saint Stephen the martyr and all the righteous with Mary the Virgin Mother of God, let us pray to the Lord!
Kyrie eleison!
O THOU that hast authority over life and death, remember our holy fathers and mothers, the prophets, apostles, and martyrs; Mary the Virgin Mother of God, St John the Forerunner, and St Stephen the martyr together with all the righteous. Unite us with the multitudes of the firstborn whose names are written in the heavenly Jerusalem.

That He will remember all the true teachers who have confirmed us in the true faith, from Saint James of Jerusalem even until this day, let us pray to the Lord!
Kyrie eleison!
CONFIRM in our souls the doctrines of the enlightened and the doctors who carried Thy holy Name before the nations and before the kings and the children of Israel. Bring to an end the heresies that trouble us, and make us worthy of a blameless stand before Thy dreadful judgment seat.

That He will remember all the faithful departed, let us pray to the Lord!
Kyrie eleison!
O LORD of spirits and all flesh, remember all them that have departed from us in the true faith. Give rest to their bodies, their souls and their spirits. Deliver them from endless condemnation and make them to rejoice in the place where the light of Thy countenance shines, blotting out their offenses and entering not into judgment with them, for there is none innocent before Thee save Thine Only-begotten Son, through whom we also hope to find mercy and forgiveness of sins for His sake, both for us and for them.

Having commemorated all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life unto Christ our God!
To thee, O Lord.
KEEP us, O Lord, without sin until our end and gather us at the feet of Thine elect. Let our end come when and where and as Thou wilt, but leave us not in shame for our offenses so that Thine honored and blessed Name may be glorified and praised, in this as in all things, together with the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ and that of Thine all good and Living Holy Spirit, one in essence with Thee, in both worlds unto the Aeon of aeons.
Amen.
PEACE be with you all.
And with thy spirit.

The Dogmatikon

GLORY be to Thy holy Name, O Lord Jesus Christ and worship to Thy majesty in both worlds unto the Aeon of aeons. This is truly the living and life-giving Bread that came down from heaven to give life to all who will receive Him. Thus do we approach Thy holy Mysteries in good faith in Thy holy Name and in the presence of Thy goodness do we break the bread which has become Thy holy Body and sign the wine which has become Thy Blood with the seal of salvation making them one as Thou art one and we are one in Thee.

The Preface of the Lord's Prayer

IN THY mercy, O Lord, forgive the sins and negligence of Thy servants and grant us the grace to appear before Thee with a pure heart and to say in common:

The Lord's Prayer

OUR Father,
Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
PEACE be with you all.
And with thy spirit.

The Bidding of the Inclination

Before partaking of these divine and holy Mysteries offered here, let us again bow down our heads to the Lord!
To Thee, O Lord.

The Prayer of Inclination

O LORD God Almighty, perfect Thy grace within us and pour out Thy gift through our hands and may Thy tender mercies and the clemency of Thy divinity be upon us, the people whom Thou hast chosen for Thyself. Grant unto us through Thy clemency, O Lord, that we may all, every day of our life, please Thy divinity and be rendered worthy of the aid of Thy grace to offer Thee praise, honor, thanksgiving, and adoration at all times.
Amen.

The Great Blessing

THE GRACE and mercy of the Holy Trinity; glorious, uncreated, self-existent, eternal, adorable and one in essence be with you all, my kindred, unto the Aeon of aeons.
Amen.

The Second Censing

The Elevation

Barekhmar! With reverence and fear, behold!
Kyrie eleison!
THE HOLY Mysteries are for the Holy.
One Holy Father,
One Holy Son,
One Holy Spirit,
Who are One. Amen.

The Blessing of Bourktha

MAY the grace of the Holy Trinity come down upon this bread, its givers, receivers and servers, and may the mercy of God be upon all its partakers in the past and those to come, in both worlds unto the Aeon of aeons.

The Communion

THE purifying fire of the Body and Blood of Christ is given to the servant of God, ___, for the remission of sins in both worlds and for everlasting life.
Amen.

The Repose of the Mysteries

Glory be to Thee! Glory be to Thee! Glory be to Thee, our Lord and God, forever!
LET NOT our participation in the Mysteries of Thy holy Body and Blood be unto us for judgement or condemnation, but for life and redemption to us all.
Amen. May the Name of the Lord be blessed unto the Aeon of aeons.

The Post-Communion Prayer

AT THY banquet, O heavenly Bridegroom, Thou hast set before Thy guests the Chalice of Thy precious Body and Blood and allowed us poor sinners to receive its gifts. Glory be to Thee for Thine incomprehensible love unto the Aeon of aeons.
Amen. May this offering, O Lord, be pleasing to Thy will. Let the angels rejoice with us and bring us unto Thee.

The Dismissal

MAY our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom we have offered our service and our praise in His holy, glorious and divine Mysteries, make us worthy to have a share in His kingdom and to rejoice with His holy angels. Through His grace and mercy may we stand before Him to receive a place at His right hand in the heavenly Jerusalem, and may His just providence rule over us and all creation in both worlds unto the Aeon of aeons.
Amen.
