The Black Lieutenant

By Patrick Fairchild
Sing to "Yankee Doodle"
Should rebels come In angry throngs,
To cancel Georges tenets.
Who is there to right the wrongs?
Dockstader's Black Lieutenant!

Black Lieutenant Hear our plea,
'Midst the Yankee babble.
Lead us on to victory,
Against the vile rabble!

From Niagara's Fort He'll hear the call,
And 'round him we will rally.
To lead us on to vic'try's hall,
In Mohawk's shining valley!

Black Lieutenant On parade,
With your band so merry .
Make the foe man sad he stayed,
And crush the one who tarrys!

We'll torch their barns,
And torch their hay,
They'll see what treason earns them .
Should they complain we'll laugh and say,
They blew the flames that burns them!

Black Lieutenant Sally forth ,
With your Jager rifle.
Fill the Doodles with remorse ,
When with the crown they trifle!

After all is said and done,
And Treason's head we sever .
The daring tales of battles won ,
Shall echo on forever!

Black Lieutenant Raise your flask,
To our grand tradition .
Hold the Yankees to their task,
Or send them to Perdition
