Tools to install lockstrip 1. Craftsman garden pruning shear. Note that the blades do not cross like a pair of scissors. This will allow square cuts. 2. Single edge razor blade, next best thing to cut lockstrip. Just push down to cut. 3. Razor knife or box cutter will also work but does not cut as square as the pruning shears. 4. Nylon sticks. taper end or chisel is is perfect for poking lockstrip in gasket with damage. These sticks will also help install glass into gasket without fear of chipping glass on edges. These are very strong prying tools but can also be used to tool sealant or caulking. 5. Clear urethane sealer "GOOP" I would use this at the butt joints when you cannot use a splice cap, (Barracuda rear glass lower corners are miter cut and butted together) Special note on installing lockstrip Never stretch lockstrip to install, always "crowd" it together, that is to cut it 3/8" to 3/4" longer than required and butt the edges together. Make sure the ends are mitred or square cut so they butt together tight. |
