TSKILL

Ends a process.


Syntax

TSKILL /?

TSKILL process_id | process_name [/server:server_name] [/id:session_id | /a] [/v]


Parameters
process_id (NT2000)
The ID of the process you want to end.
process_name (NT2000)
The name of the process you want to end. You can use wildcards to specify this parameter.

Switches
/? (NT2000)
Displays help.
/a (NT2000)
Ends the process running in all sessions.
/id:session_id (NT2000)
Ends the process running in the specified session.
/server:server_name (NT2000)
Specifies the terminal server containing the process you want to end. Defaults to the current terminal server.
/v (NT2000)
Displays information about the actions being performed.

Notes

You can use tskill to end only those processes belonging to you, unless you are an administrator. Administrators have full access to all tskill functions and can end processes running in other user sessions.

When all processes running in a session end, the session also ends.


Examples

To end process 1234, type:

    TSKILL 1234

To end process "explorer" running on session 3, type:

    TSKILL explorer /id:3
