SCANDSKW

Starts Microsoft ScanDisk, a disk analysis and repair tool that checks a drive for errors and corrects any problems that it finds.


Syntax

To check the current drive for disk errors:

SCANDSKW

To check one or more drives for disk errors:

SCANDSKW [[drive: [...] [/A[ll[fixeddisks]]] [/N[oninteractive]] [/O[ldfs]] [/P[review]] [/Sagerun:n] [/Sageset:n] | [/Silent]]


Parameters
drive: [...] (Win95)
Specifies the drive or drives you want to check and repair.

Switches
/A[ll[fixeddisks]] (Win95)
Check all your local, nonremovable hard disks.
/N[oninteractive] (Win95)
Start and close ScanDisk automatically.
/O[ldfs] (Win95)
UNDOCUMENTED *DANGEROUS* Converts ALL Windows Long File Names (LFNs) on target hard disks to MS-DOS style 8.3 Short File Names (SFNs).
ALL long folder AND file names will be lost!
/P[review] (Win95)
Prevent ScanDisk from correcting any errors it finds.
/Sagerun:n (Win95)
UNDOCUMENTED Use Unattended settings via System Agent (Task Scheduler) from the SETn Registry key, n=0-50.
