Many people who read Surviving the Feminization of America said my most significant observations about men regarded the need for regenerating male flavored spirituality. So I put together Water People which is essentially a product of my spiritual odyssey to India and Asia. I call it a "toilet tank" book, a "thought for the day" book. Water People is a collection of quotes from the greatest spiritual masters of the past 5000 years of human history. It's geared toward men but by no means excludes women. It's a book for men and women who wish to hear what the greatest poets and most esteemed spiritual masters of all time have to say about the ultimate spiritual question -- dissolving ego.

Some people put it down for being too simple. I think that's the whole point.

I wove the quotes together with a watery metaphor -- a lyrical relief of minor poetic importance -- but the heart of the book is, without a doubt, the uplifting collection of quotes. Included are 100 different sages from Lao Tzu to Jesus, Albert Einstein to Jim Morrison, St. Francis to Abbie Hoffman. My contribution is simply that I waded through thousands of written pages collecting some of the best things ever uttered by a human mouth or imagined by a human mind. Considering the caliber of the men and women quoted and what they have to say, for six bucks you can't go wrong. And they do make great gifts.

Rich Zubaty, dubbed a monk without a monastery, presents Water People, a paperback of lovely, poetically expressed quotations of high spiritual merit, dedicated particularly to men. It's one of those little books you keep handy on the desk, bedside table, the kitchen counter -- wherever the pleasure of spiritual inspiration is what you're looking for. This is a carefully chosen collection of words from a wide diversity of history's quotable, from Gerald Jampolsky to Jesus, Rupert Sheldrake to Socrates, Mother Teresa to Mick Jagger... I could go on. In three appendices, Zubaty offers a Buddhist Meditation, excerpts from Your Brain Is Not Your Own (his forthcoming novel), and excerpts from his Surviving the Feminization of America, called "a new mythology for men." If you're not near a Barnes & Noble bookstore, call 888/347-4364 to order one. A mere $5.95 in the U.S.
