About the Music
This is my
fourth CD and probably my best work. In the last three years since Creation
a lot has happen to me personally, creatively and spiritually. In the last
three years I had found my birth parents and since then I have built a
relationship with them, my birth families. Trinity is about our Father, who
governs over all of us. The mystery of the Father, his Son, but most of all
the Holy Spirit that fill me when I write compositions. I once said that music
and creativity is unexplained to me. I hear these melodies and sometimes see
them. Most of my family would medicate me for this. Lol.
When people first hear this CD they are going to think it is about that
Trinity, but it is also about much more. Trinity is also about brining three
families together through one person. Adoption,
I found out is not easy on anyone. To let go of a child is the most selfless
act any person can do for the better of that child, it hurts, and I am not
sure if that pain never goes away. Every since my existence I believe that
every child, no matter what circumstance, no matter what situation, no matter
what, is a gift from God! And we are all responsible for Gods gifts! Even if
that gift is not our own making, which now puts a twist on the welfare system,
sorry. Trinity is also about letting go of your fears and hate and believing
that you are all angels to the people around you. If we all let the Spirit
come within, if we all take the time to care, if we all would just love.
Trinity is about you, me and the Father. Love you all, sorry so deep. But
Trinity is that.
Trinity: Tadyn's voice at the beginning. He really didn't
want to do and wanted paid a lot. So I need every to buy the CD. Most the
drums are sampled of a live set. I am getting really good at this, all other
instruments are live. All horns are keyboards. Strings, guitar, bass,
keyboard, percussions buy me. Second part of the song moves from 4/4 to 3/4
which gives it a twist. A lot of instruments at the end are following the
melody in unison. I always like to write a somewhat progressive instrumental.
Walk with you: This song is a lot more complicated than it
sounds. the rhythm is tough, at least for me. The sticks keep one, drums
come in on another, bass does another then the guitar. Some how it all fits
together nicely. Saxophone and guitar take off doing both pentatonic and
modal scales, Aleoan and Phrygian for you music fanatics! my two favorites.
Nice little upbeat song. I feel like taking a pretty girl out for a walk on
a hot summer day.
Simple: I love the cymbal hits at the beginning. I also
love the guitar sound. I have the Roland™ VGA7 Guitar amp with a Fender
GK-2A synth hooked up to it. It can create any guitar, any amp, any speaker
combination and has every effect imaginable. in my opinion it is the best at
out there. However, I love this sound. Upright bass. Piano. Meaning: I
feel this song is about the joys of living, family and just being happy with
the way things are. People dwell too much on the stressful things in life.
Sorry: Written about, not so much that I am sorry for what
I did but I am sorry for what has happened. We can't change the past,
however, we can make a better future. Piano and guitar. first acoustic then
electric. This song has a lot of meaning behind it.
Her eyes: I struggled to name this one. I like the beat,
the classical guitar and it really has an island sound to it. So we couldn't
name it another beach song, so the next best thing was beautiful eyes. A
long melodic idea that turned into a pretty good song. I had this melody in
my head for a while and put it to a neat rhythm which really came out pretty
close to how I imagined it.
Touch: I sampled the girl saying
"touch", then I needed to
add it to a song. Dorian in A was the mode. I also sampled water.?. You can
hear it in the quiet parts. Sampling sounds is amazing to me and them
putting it to music. Then I put the song together. Really
passionate.
Adoption: was a piano that I had in my head for a long
time. just three notes that was an influence from somewhere else. I started
to add more to it and the more I let people listen to it the more they loved
this one. After I was done I knew I had a really good song. The guitars at
the end really add a lot of emotions to the song. To me the song was about
not belong, sadness, and wanting everyone to forgive. It was about my
feelings pouring out. So I guess I should call it Adoption which I guess to
a lot of people would be a weird name for this song. To me it makes a lot of
sense. I really struggled with what to name it.
Mary: I really wanted to use another musician on Cello
besides myself but to get the idea across takes so much work. Has a
classical guitar and Cello, choir in the back ground. I re-did the song with
two stringed instruments strumming with the guitar, synth, and strings but I
liked the simple version better.
Forbidden: is a tango! I really didn't know if I should
name it this but the passion of the tango is so strong and the feelings I
had to create this one was just as strong! I bet I had 10 versions of this
song! It starts out with violin and classical guitar, then with the
trumpet, the guitar in the middle is an acoustic, then it rocks out with
strings, horns and electric guitar!
Alleluia: This
song was written for two part vocals. One day when we have time, my two
sister in laws we will finish it. Right now I wrote it with violin and
viola, the pan flute comes in and takes over a different melody. I wasn't
going to add the guitar part but one of my "sister in laws daughters",
can I say that? told me that I had to leave it. so I did. I thought about
doing the whole thing with two strings but everyone agreed. Two guitars with
drums and orchestra really rocked!
In love:
features my musical ability in a wide variety of instruments! I bought a mandolin
and wrote the song around it. So it starts out with the mandolin, then an
acoustic guitar, upright bass, violins, and I solo each instrument! The
first solo is the mandolin, then the guitar, then the violin, super fast you
can hear me hit the fret board of the violin, I was going to redo it but I
liked the feel of that take. I had faster takes of the violin solo but they
were out of time with the tempo. Then bass solo, then banjo then I think
back to guitar. This was a lot of fun to write. I need to do more of
these!.
Red Sunset:
This song was written with two girls in mind, one who had lost her life
tragically, and another who shared an amazing story of her birth. This is a
song about life and death and watching as many sunsets as you can and
knowing that we are here for one purpose only. I pray you find your
purpose.
Enjoy the ride:
I took samples again, put them together and came up with a song. I love the
Latin flavor in this song. Life is just a ride and I hope yours is remember able.
Forgiveness: Wow,
to versions of this song. started out with a techno version. Then I trashed
it. Wanted to do something with Strauss because he is in my blood. I am also
running out of room on the CD. So I came up with this in February 09 when
the CD was supposed to be already done! I could go on with this piece
forever but again, I am running out of room. The ending is actually the
notes in chord form. Which really throws everybody off. Did a lot of
variations to this and kept this one. I really wish I had more room and more
time.... may more next time.... Forgiveness part 2?
In closing I had a lot of fun recording this CD! I always have
fun creating music. Then I have fun performing them for you and talking about
the music. I have spent 3 years in the studio writing and re-writing to try and
come up with the greatest version of the song. I do not feel that there is a
perfect version because it's just a creation in my head that can come out in
many different forms. Some I start out with tons of strings and end up making
them very simple and some really simple end up being an orchestration. I hope
you enjoy the music. Please let me know. Most of you have I love hearing from
you....
