THE MAGIC OF WORDS

Hannah Howell will discuss how to make your writing sparkle with the right words. The words you select can add depth and drama to your writing or make it just one of far too many manuscripts piling up on an editor's desk. Good, but not good enough. She'll show how one word can change the whole meaning of a scene. She'll reveal the hidden traps in a thesaurus. With examples and handouts, as well as a short exercise she'll show how one word can add to any scene, enhance the atmosphere, or reveal emotion even with something as simple as a verb change.

Speaker's Bio:

Hannah Howell is a NY Times and USA Today best-seller. A winner of several awards, she was a RITA Finalist and was named a Pioneer of Romance by Romantic Times in 2008 for 20 years of being published. Married 38 years, she has two sons, one daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren. Being mildly insane - she also has five cats. The author of 40 books, she is taking a 3 book break from ten years of writing Scottish medievals. The first of the trilogy featuring heroines with psychic gifts and set in late Georgian England is If He's Wicked and will be out in June 2009.
