  • Have cilia (hair-like projections used for food and movement)

  • Have between 1-8 flagella
  • EXAMPLE - Causes the African Sleeping Sickness (spread by the tsetse fly)
    Sporozoans
  • parasites that feed on the cells and body fluids of their host animals
  • EXAMPLE - Plasmodium (causes malaria)

  • Autotrophs
  • Some live in a symbiotic relationship (coral)

  • Have an eyespot that is sensitive to light
  • Have a pouch that holds two flagella
    Diatoms
  • Found in toothpaste and other polishing agents
