The Daily Tear

She wakes up to a brand new day,
with the same obstacle still in her way.

Her family is still so incomplete,
as she places her slippers on her feet.

She walks down stairs to the table,
the one they shared the one so stable.

Sat at the table made of teak,
the daily tear runs down her cheek.

She wonders how many more tears she'll endure,
as she gazes across at the empty chair.

She reminises about times gone by,
but the question unanswered is always why?

The patter of tiny feet sound above her head,
as the children come down the stairs from bed.

She must be strong for the childrens sake,
but deep down inside it's the heart that aches.

But she knows today is a different day,
she's to travel with the children so far away.

Mammy mammy our we going to see dad.
These words lift her, she's not so sad.

For although she's going to a foreign land,
it's to see their father her loving husband.

His life now spent in an English prison,
a million miles from her vision.

He fought for what he believed was right,
now prison walls are his only sight.

So few visits so little time together,
but every single moment she will cherish forever.

It's the heartbreak of leaving, next visit far away.
Leaves her in turmoil counting day by day by day.

Then back to the table where they shared so much.
Where she writes each day to keep in touch.

And the daily tear full of love and affection,
that says so much and is her connection.

To the man who lies so far away,
it tells him she loves him more each day.

The strength of this woman cannot be counted.
For the strength of this woman is unsurmounted.
