Ballymurphy Women

As I sit here and think, about times gone by.
There's still one thing, brings a tear to my eye.

When the Brits came her in '69'.
They thought happy day's, everything will be fine.
They were given power beyond belief.
To plunder and pilage the man on the street.

They broke down doors, lifted fathers and sons.
Taking them to prison and splitting up the homes.

But out from the depths of this despair.
Came something so strong, there's nothing to compare.

As the men lay in prison, for things they never done.
The women formed a barrier that was never overcome.

A whistle in one hand, a bin lid in the other.
Not before long they had the Brits run for cover.

Children fed and watered, safely brought to school.
Now the women gather to show the Brits who rule.

The whistles start to blow, the bin lids hit the ground.
You can almost hear the Brits say "I hate that bloody sound".

Women off to battle, to fight and free there men.
A typical Ballymurphy woman and this is what she said.

"Open the door quick, let me in.
Come on Mrs Clarke time is running thin.
They've got your wee Johnny he's up against the wall.
They're beating him with truncheons and soon he's gonna fall.
I've rounded up the women we're ready to attack.
It won't be to long before we get him back".
