Betty Jo Brewer, 80, Oak Ridge, died peacefully after a brief illness Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at her home with family nearby.

Mrs. Brewer was born Feb. 27, 1926, in Longview, Texas, and then moved to Oak Ridge in 1950.

She was of the Baptist faith.

"Miss Betty," as she was known in her neighborhood, enjoyed reading and working in flower garden. She enjoyed her family, neighbors, children and life in general. Preceded in death by: Husband, James N. Brewer in 1983; parents, O.E. and Clifford Lee Reynolds of Longview, Texas.

Survivors: Children, Marilyn Jablonski and husband Bobby of Waukegan, Ill., Steve Summers and wife Pam of Everette, Wash., Danny Brewer and wife Janine of Clinton, Esther Sewell of Clinton; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Bates of Georgia; brothers, Kenneth, Don and David, all of Texas.

The family would like to especially thank all her good neighbors and friends for their cards, hand made and delivered by neighborhood children.

At her request, her body was donated to the University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis.

The family will be holding a private memorial service for her at a later date. In lieu of a receiving, the family requests that their friends spend an evening with their own loved ones, taking time to express their love and appreciation for one another.
