Ernest James Beets, age 86 of Clinton passed away Sunday, April 23, 2000 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

He was a member of Sinking Springs United Methodist Church. He was former owner/operator of Clinton Glass Company. He was a member of Clinton Masonic Lodge #376. He was born Nov. 8, 1913 in Anderson County.

Preceded in death by: First wife, Ruth Marie Beets; parents, James and Corda Wallace Beets.

Survivors: wife, Margaret Hillon Beets of Clinton; daughters, Betty Humphrey and husband Ben of Heiskell; Virginia McNair and husband Dwight of McDonough, GA; step-son, K. Von Cook and wife Bonnie of Clinton; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

The family received friends 6-8 pm Tuesday, April 25, 2000 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Masonic services were held 8 pm with funeral services following in the chapel with the Rev. Catherine Nance officiating. Interment was 11 am Wednesday April 26, 2000 at Sartin Cemetery.
