Willahdean Beckner




Willahdean Beckner, 73 of Mehaffey Road, Claxton, died Tuesday at St. Mary’s Medical Center after a long illness. The family will receive friends Wednesday night 7-8:30 pm at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow in the chapel with the Rev. Jack Anderson and the Rev. George Miller officiating. Burial will be Thursday at 11:30 am at Tennessee Valley Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Beckner was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Beckner. She was the daughter of the late Andy Moore and Virgie Marshall Burkle.

An Anderson County native, Mrs. Beck and her husband ran Beck’s Super Market on Clinton Highway for several years. Her daughter said that she also enjoyed helping out at a niece’s florist shop a few days a week.

She was a member of Bells Campground Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Crowe of Claxton; grandchildren, Detra Haun, Mrs. Michael (Tina) Miller of Claxton; Darryl Richards of Atlanta; Chris Richards of Andersonville; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Josh A. Haun and Kristy Miller, all of Claxton; a sister, Martha (Bobbie) Inman of Clinton; several nieces and nephews.
